Ask a Question / Re: How to REMOVE Android Permissions
« on: October 01, 2015, 12:15:13 pm »
Good question, I can only guess - look for a 'games-generated' folder on your mac, and then \<YOUR GAME>\Export\android\bin\bin\AndroidManifest.xml

The manifest file should be 3KB (all my others are 1 or 2).

Yeah I was hoping it was under settings somewhere.. Maybe stencyl could include this in the next release :)

Ask a Question / How to REMOVE Android Permissions

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post (yay!). I was curious how many other people couldn't resolve the problem of having unnecessary permissions as I too was struggling with this. I'm looking for the correct way of removing them, does anyone know how to? Or am I missing something obvious? I found ways of removing them in older versions of Stencyl, but none since 3.0. So after a couple of minutes searching I came up with a trick to change the permissions right before the apk gets built. Just locate this manifest file:

C:\Users\<YOUR ACC>\AppData\Roaming\Stencyl\stencylworks\games-generated\<YOUR GAME>\Export\android\bin\bin\AndroidManifest.xml

..keep it open in notepad and increment the version number (as you would do after a new revision). Comment out (with <!-- blabla --> on the code) the permissions you don't want. Then in Stencyl hit publish or test your app in android and go back to that folder. Keep on refreshing the folder and once you see the modified date changes for the manifest file, save your opened notepad version.

Tada! Well anyways, it worked for me  ::)
