Shared Resources / Basic Tile sheet Template
« on: May 11, 2015, 11:55:11 pm »
Hi!
It's been a long time since my last post, but I am coming back to share a simple tile template for your projects. It's a collection of the basic collision shapes arranged in a 32x32 tile sheet, so you can use them as a guide, or modify it as your needs.
Below you can download the .PSD , I hope that helps you on your future projects!  :D.

Ask a Question / Sine/Cosine Approximation
« on: August 24, 2013, 01:42:43 am »
Hi all!
I'm just wondering if an approximation method to calculate sine and cosine as described here:
http://lab.polygonal.de/?p=205
would be worth to try on Stencyl, or the speed up would be minimal.

Windows / Mac / Flash / HTML5 / Crazy Steam Bros 2
« on: August 20, 2013, 01:54:07 pm »
Hi!
Here is a demo of my current project, the 2nd part of "Crazy Steam Bros".
http://www.stencyl.com/game/play/20904
At this time there aren't controls designed for desktop, so use the virtual joystick with the mouse, and shoot pressing X and/or C keys.
Flash version is fast and stable, but Android is a bit slow. Hope that with updates in 3.0 the performance gets better. I still haven´t tested it on iOs, I´ll post about it when possible.

You could add a direct link.
What's the point of the game? To move the robot over the zombie? Also, the screen size is huge. You must work a lot in your game, as in this stage of development I think it´s only a idea, not even a pre-alpha.

In 3.0 it´s possible to read system's date and time, so you could save that data when the player exits the game . In 2.X I´m not sure at all...

You can try this: http://www.monkeycoder.co.nz/
Or you can try to start a project directly on HAXE

You could change the background mountains to a background layer with a different parallax speed, to achieve a better depth effect. Controls aren't very precise, anyway.

1.- Open your favorite paint program.
2.- Create a image at least as big as your stage size.
3.- Fill it with black color
4.- Choose the eraser tool
5.- Erase a hole in the image as big as you need (light radius)
6.- Save it as PNG
7.- Import it in Stencyl

You don't need a behavior at all. Just in the player's creation step, create a new actor wich will hold the black overlay sprite. Then, when updating, center the X and Y position of the actor to the position of the player.

A fast and dirty way: Just make a big black sprite wich covers all the screen, except a transparent hole centered all the time over the player.

There is also a block wich cheks the actual frame of an actor:

Mmmh, not sure, I don't use that behavior and I don't know how it works. You should move the actor to front when you press the actor, and then move back again when the button is released.
