In this level you can press the T button and hail the taxi in real time. There's also a traffic light and level crossing in the level.

Following feedback from Newgrounds someone wrote that the risk / reward of food poisoning at eating at the restaurants was not rewarding enough, so I just have two ordinary restaurants, 'Blow-fish chunks' and 'Soba-up noodles'. I will think about maybe making it rewarding by giving next day hangover bonus points if you eat at a restaurant for an incentive.

There are minor aesthetics that need to be altered too but hopefully it all comes across.

I'm aware that occasionally when the cars spawn they stop and I think that's linked to collision with actor of type for the traffic lights/ level crossing, I have made it to only effect the 'last collided actor' but for some reason it sometimes effects the 'last created actor'???....

I also rushed the music so I'll go back and spend more time on that.

Thanks for the info, I’ll try and check it out.

The inspiration for my game came from my dad. He used to work for a bank in Central London and always wore grey suits.

I’ll be adding more levels like Tokyo, Glasgow etc next year.

Glad you liked it, not sure what you mean by remake?... Am I missing something? This is my own original idea.

Controls :

Arrow keys : left, right, up (no down movement).

Guide :

Use the toilets to regain speed.

Lifeline: Click on the Taxi logo or Press T to call a Taxi to skip the level you won’t get any points for the level and this can only be used once in the full game.

Eat at the fast food restaurants (Cockerels-fried-chick-men, Burger it up!, Jobbie Kebabs) for £10 each time, you will fuel up on food and be able to use the toilet here too to regain speed. Be careful each time one of the restaurants will be serving dodgy food.

If you’re served dodgy food and get sick use one of the toilets or eat at another restaurant to recover.

If you have less than £10 you can’t buy food anymore.

Use the train for £50 but you will heavily be deducted points. If you have less than £50 you can’t use the train.

Get the bus for £20. Wait around the bus stop for 5 seconds and the bus will arrive. You will be deducted points for using the bus. if you have less than £20 you can”t use the bus.

Avoid the pickpockets who are roaming, you will lose some money. Avoid the football crowds or you’ll be dragged down the street along with them in their momentum. Avoid the jealous drunken thug or he’ll kill you. Avoid stepping in the pools of sick or they’ll temporarily slow you down.



Next year I will work on adding more levels like Glasgow, Dublin, Sydney, Paris, Mexico, Los Angeles, New York, Moscow, Tokyo etc. Also adding more characters to choose from as the main player.

I might add random lights turning on and off in the windows of the houses too.

Hopefully I’ll get better at graphics too and improve that aspect of the game. I’ll write more music for it too and have added some more verses to the main theme tune and will upload when I address all the bugs at the same time.


Bugs that I’m aware of and will fix when I get the time :

The main character sometimes gets stuck while walking right up along the houses. I’ve set friction to 0 for both collisions but this still doesn’t resolve it. I’ve tried changing the collision shape to circle but this also gives weird physics results, I’ll have to look into this more.

Movement, I messed around with this a bit making him sway back and forth and to the side randomly but this made the game too hard, it also made it less fun because you want a certain amount of control over your player. I was content to keep y speed up the only variable and not even have y speed down. A solution to give a more swaying drunken effect might be to add more frames in the animation movement for the player illustrating the swaying rather than coding randomised movement.

Sound, the football hooligan sound loops infinitely down at the bottom of the scene. I’ll have to add a couple of booleans or just re-code the sound for that actor type.

This is the second game I made www.harbourboy.com

I made this at the same time as my first game www.thelosteskimo.com using some of the same actor's.

It's a children's game. Use the left and right arrow keys to move the player to catch the fish.

Things I'm going to do to improve the game when I get the time :

I'm going to add more animations for when the actor moves left or right.
I'm going to add a visible timer to the level.
When the fish are caught there's going to be a sound and also a more dynamic score hud, it might enlarge/ change colour for a second or two before returning to normal scale and colour of font.
I'm going to add more levels with different varieties of fish.
I'm going to write more music for the different levels.
I'm going to make it into a mobile game.

Thanks for the encouragement JeffreyDriver!

There's a lot of good suggestions you've made. I did want it so that you could collect the wood and ice blocks so that you could place the fires and igloo's anywhere you wanted but realised I'd have to introduce more keyboard controls to now what I know from both your feedback and Bombini is already a little clumsy and thought it might be a bit overwhelming/confusing for younger players. I'll have a go and see if it's not too cumbersome.

I did think about hunting before and originally though about seals but then I decided to keep it Kid friendly/P.G. so it wasn't too violent and introduced them as characters :

I like you're idea about weather being a factor and maybe day and night as well.

The goal of the game is to move to different artic areas to eventually find your way home, you come across characters like a polar bear, seal and penguins. Who help you get back home. In the future I might make a little story animation when the game is loaded to inform players of the goal of the game. 

Again, thanks for the encouragement, I just need to find the spare time to start working on the game again.

That's another good suggestion to add a visual representation for the body temperature rather than an numerical one (would mean I could get rid of the weird "0" for body temperature).

When I next get the time I might also create my own font for the game similar to the look of the letters in my start screen logo.

Also there's a lot of things later in the game I'd like to change. For starters in one area you throw harpoons at crabs and no matter what why you face the harpoon always fires forward, I've just noticed that and will need to fix it (no big deal), so there's probably still many bugs. I'm going to practice my drawing too so I can improve everything visually.

Thanks for the constructive feed back.

I will definitely take it on board and really like the idea of the 0/10 score system display for the various items to collect, also like the idea of changing fonts for the body temperature and agree that the player should know beforehand the body temperature limit.

I agree that 0 body temperature default is a little silly, I'll have a think about that, I just found it as an easy way to express the cold/harsh environment.

To catch a fish you take the very tip of the hook and just as it's under the fish's mouth you press up.

Yeah I need to get a bit better at coding and work out a way of making the fishing easier/better.

The reason you can jump while fishing (it doesn't effect the fishing ability) is that random parts of the iceberg you stand on will melt at random times, so if the piece of iceberg you're standing on starts to melt you can jump on to another piece. If you stay for too long all of it melts, so to survive you need to plan to jump off the iceberg to either side and it will reload you to the main area nd then you can try the fishing again and the iceberg will reset.

Hi Bombini thanks for trying it.

When you collect 10 of the woods you create a fire which you can stand next to for up to 2 minutes to keep your body temperature up, after that the fire fades out.

For the fishing part I didn't want to bombard the player with too many fish, also when testing it if I spawned too many fish the game would crash. I've set the Tuna speed at slow randoms. In the next area you fish for Salmon that swim faster and then the area after that for sardines which are faster still and smaller.

The trick to catching the fish is to hook them just under their mouths.
