In the behavior palette under Actor >> Draw, there are blocks for working with z-order.

[WARNING: Off Topic Statement]

I love how everyone here is an expert or a master. :-)
I like the combo breaker.

Noticed something less than ideal in your original post and "fixed" it for you. As I said up there, feel free to re-edit as you see fit, but for safety's sake I went ahead and removed the link to your .swf.

Wait, why did you remove it?
Because you exposed your game .swf for grabs by anyone. It makes it easy pickings for a quick, sneaky upload to Newgrounds or Kongregate.

EDIT: Whoops, didn't notice the double post that overflowed into this page. Looks like we're good.

6. While I think the claim that you can make games without coding is true, I haven't seen too many people in the community forums stick to only the behaviors that are shipped.
Just to clarify for the OP, though, there is a big difference between the visual behavior building and hard coding. If you are speaking about avoiding only the latter, than yes, I'd say its definitely possible to avoid coding.

Really nice revamp of the squid... octopus... wait, did you change its species between versions? :o

Although I kind of miss the cheeky, crazed smile of the original one. The new one's not bad of course, just different. However, it looks weird in that second gif how the darkened water makes it look like the squid body just stops shortly below the surface. The illusion isn't necessarily working for me in that regard.

Chit-Chat / Re: How do you code games?
« on: June 26, 2015, 06:58:58 pm »
There's a reason things like 1GAM exist: because people try to spit polish the car before its even put together, so to speak. Just write code, and in writing code, you get clearer ideas of what works, what doesn't, and what to do next time. So yeah, keep doing what you're doing.

Making a living on stencyl my dream
I wouldn't be too hasty there. Indeed, its a pretty significant sum of money, but $25,000 for a year isn't necessarily as fluffy as it sounds (plus, as mentioned, we aren't accounting for rev share cuts;) compare this to Mike at Ludum Dare who was asking for what was probably a close to bare minimum $3,000 a month to cover living expenses, which is $36,000 a year. I'm sure he's very pleased with the results, but I'd guess its by no means a complete living. Colburt can correct me if I'm wrong though.

Just wanted to make sure we're being real about things. :)

Paid Work / Re: 1-2 min games needed! [Looking for developers]
« on: June 15, 2015, 04:00:59 pm »
I was thinking I'd pay around $5-10 for 5 games
Saying that's laughable is an understatement. If someone spent a mere hour per game (which is a very optimistic time estimate,) that's $1-2 dollars hourly wage.

Maybe its just me (and considering art is your forte that's a very big possibility,) but the colors seem a bit oversaturated.

Even then, it still looks great. I remember finding this game and burning off an afternoon playing and beating it. Looking forward to seeing the progress!

Make sure the enemy is set to "always active;" look under the properties tab of the actor behavior blocks.
