Ask a Question / change character bwtween scenes
« on: July 25, 2013, 01:17:33 am »
I managed to find a way to change between two characters with some help, but now I need to make it so I can change player between scenes.

It need to:

1) remember the exact coordinate in space of both players,
2) detect in which scenes the player I am not currently controlling is located
3) return to that scene when a button is pressed
4) and of course, the game must keep in memory every action that was performed before loading back
the scene where the other character is located (switch that was set on, items previously found, etc)

Is there a way to do this or must I create an extremely large scene in which I would simulate a scene change by fading to black the screen while I change my player's coordinate on the same scene.... would be quite bothersome since I would have to keep the same background all the time...

I looked around, but I haven't found a way to implement this yet. I have almost completed the mechanic for my game, but I still need this one little thing ;)

I found this way to make it work too. It is different, but functional. I will try yours to see if it works better than mine. Thanks again :)

I tried all that and nothing works... the thing is, the move camera works fine but it refuse to give controls to the second character no matter what. I tried all possible combination and it will either disable both or only allow the first to work.....

I am not really sure how to exactly, but I've managed to do this for now. The change view works but I can't seem to be able to change character. I tried other things, but most of the time, both will walk together. Also, I am not sure when to create the code itself. Should I make a behavior and call it as I did here, should I make it as a scene event or in the actor themselves?

Hi everybody,

I'm trying to find a way to change controllable characters:

1: At the start of the game you control player 1
2: When you press a key (let's say SHIFT for now) the view goes to player 1 to player 2, control goes to player 2 deactivating control of player 1 and when you press SHIFT again, it returns to player 1
3: when control is changed, the other player that was disabled is still visible even if off screen so that if you move to its location, it is still there but can't be moved unless SHIFT is pressed again.
4: The process works also if both characters aren't in the same scene.

I don't see blocks that allows that to happen...

You were right, I rebuilt the crash course scene from scratch and it works just now fine! :)

Every time I try to test the scene / game, the flash player starts but it flickers and nothing happens. The only thing I see is the background color and nothing else...

Have anyone ever experienced this?
How can I solve this?

It works :D

Thanks a lot ;)

Can someone tell me what I did wrong here?

I make a message box appear with text in it, than, when I press enter the first message change to a second one and at the end, I close everything. But everytime I talk to the actor again, whatever I try, it is always the second message that plays. I can't reset the whole thing so that it return to the first message again....

I did the text with attribute and when I press enter, the text in the message box change for the second attribute and when I press enter again, it close. What I want is to reset the second so that when I talk to the actor again, the first message displays back, then the second and close again like the first time.

Ask a Question / How to change number in the increment block to Y position?
« on: September 24, 2011, 09:11:08 am »
In at least two of the images of the help menu, you can see the increment block with something else than number in the drop box. When I press the box, there are no other choices than number and even when I create an attribute, I can't seem to put anything else in it...

How can I change what is inside to Y position as shown in the picture at :

StencylWorks Help / Block reference - Attribute / List / Looping / exemple picture at the bottom of the window.
