Going to try this and see what happens! From past experience Ive given up after a few days because I dont tend to do stuff very quickly - but shall see.

Haven't opened up Stencyl in nearly a year and a half until the other day - so could be interesting!

I recently completed and found a sponsor for my game Reg. Link below.

I was fairly happy with how this turned out, although as usual, I'm spotting things afterwards that I could or maybe should have done. Still - im happy mostly. A few things I was unhappy about was alot of little changes/additions the sponsor wanted. I was happy to do them, but think it made things look a bit messier than i would have liked. Happy it got sponsored anyway!

So those that (may) have included a 'like us' type button in their game, how did you go about this?

I know theres a facebook message sharing extension, but not sure that achieves what I want.

I could link the facebook button in my game straight to the sponsors facebook page i guess, but I
thought i would ask first , see what is suggested!

Ok. So I've edited my original post regarding cpmstar and bumped it, now that I know what my sponsor wants.

Simple cpmstar preloader.

Ive inserted the sponsor i.d , selected cpmstar from the preloader menu, Im a subscriber - but nothing
appears to happen when I test the game. If I start the game , the loader graphic/bar I set up appears,
and nothing happens. Eventually you can click the screen and it continues, but I see nothing.

Does it have to be online somewhere? I tried uploading and testing online, but I see the same as above.

Any help from someone that has setup cpmstar recently would be appreciated!

If it isn't easy/possible to implement, I'm quite happy to choose another far easier sponsors bid that I have. I thought I would look further into this so I could at least say to the guy I could/couldn't do it, as his bid could possibly be better than any I already have. But it would be no big loss either way.

And just to add - reading on the fgl forums, it appears that altho they are a very proffesional sponsor and good to deal with, the api gets poor comments for implementation being a nightmare. So chances are i'm just gonna pass on this.

Hi folks,

A question for those that are more code familiar than myself!

I have a sponsor that has emailed me asking if it is possible to make a couple of minor changes
(easy), and to implement his api. (not so easy) So far he hasn't bid and is just enquiring if I can
do it (or is possible to do it). I have informed him I use stencyl and while some api's are possible,
others are more difficult, but I would look into it anyway. (more so to at least say I gave it a look,
even though I feel it won't be easy).

The sponsor is y8 and their api is dev.id.net - i noticed last year another stencyler enquired about
this, but it didn't sound easy to implement (maybe a lack of information from the sponsor, im not
sure). Anyhow, the info i believe is on dev.id.net ,  and I thought I would ask anyway, as there
may well be updated info since last year.  He tells me it is for highscores, acheivements and online
saving (?).

I do have other bids on the game, so I'm not too bothered if this one isn't workable, but as I say, I
thought I would look into it so I could at least say I had.

You could also try optimizing the png files in the resources folder using pngquant.

Since using 3 since it first came out and am now upto 3.3 - I can't say I have noticed too many problems with lag and such. Due to being away from Stencyl for a year, I missed a chunk of 3.1 - 3.2 era , so can't say much about that time period.

My new game I started 2 months ago has just finished. Ive played it extensively through each of the 20 levels, and while I do add more actors and stuff happening and level size is bigger/more layers on some later levels etc - I try to be as clean with what I do and don't do. I keep away from always events as much as possible, try to keep away from things that are known to be bad - altho i use some things in moderation.

I've noticed over many times playing that lag does appear more further into my game, but it usually takes 10 minutes of playing and further into the game before I notice the fps dropping - but it could also be the above, more actors and things happening than anything. Even so, the majority of my game runs at 60fps, and once it hits the latter levels, it has moments of dropping to 45-50 - but could be my fault more than an actual issue.

Not sure what else to suggest really as you seem to be checking for the known causes of lag etc.

Oh yeah thats a subscriber only area.

How do you have that recent version of stencyl if your not a subscriber? the last public version is 8281? newer private builds I thought were for customers/subscribers only?

It could be related to this save/load/attribute problem, which is in recent versions of stencyl (looking at the version your using).

If you want to use when drawing and have text 'appear' when you have won - you would put the text blocks inside a boolean. And set that to true when you have 'won' then the text will appear.  Is that what you are trying to do?

Second issue, you would create your 'next round' button, and inside that actor, you would add  an input event, click on actor. Then you would add a scene>gameflow> switch to scene block, entering the details of the scene you want to switch to.

For specifying more precisely where you want bullets to appear - where you are creating them.. (im assuming using the create actor block).. in the x and y of create actor block, you could add a + or - arithmetic block, and then enter 'x of actor' +/- amount. and also the same with Y, that way you can tweak it and get the bullet to spawn at the spot you want it to.
