Ask a Question / Re: Failed to compile to Windows after Updating to 4.2
« on: January 10, 2020, 09:48:18 pm »
Ok using the version from the main sight ( ) and installing the optional C++ tools has done it.  At least there was no error message with the C install and testing has been working all day, nearly.  It did fail to compile twice, but cleaning the project did the trick.

This might be a bug of some kind as Stencyl version 4.0 was testing fine without need the extra C++ sets.

Did you install Stencyl over a previous install? Perhaps try uninstalling Stencyl and installing it again, or just install it to a different location on your computer.

Thanks again, I did that earlier today.  It was ineffective, though I did just manage to find a fix.

I found this thread several hours ago:,47117.0.html

I thought it irreverent since I had not touched Visual Studio today, but after rereading the post I tried modifying this fix to fix my situation and it appears to have don the trick.  It might be worth noting on the down page for this version of Stencyl that reinstalling Visual Studio with C++ might be necessary.  Oddly I did get an error message when replacing the prevision C, but my games are testing now.

Edit: Until this morning where in it refuses to test again.

Try cleaning your project and compiling again. Tools > Game > Clean Project.

Thank you, though I'm afraid  that doesn't seem to have fix it.

Some sort of camera zoom. Even if just a zoom out from the original size - so that pixelation wasn't a problem. Would need all the associated blocks around touch, position, collisions etc. to still work with whatever camera FOV was set to.

Harder, but would love it, camera rotate block.

Yeah a simple zoom in/out would be great.

After installing 4.2 from 4 my game won't test in Windows or Cppia any more.  It still tests in Flash and HTML5 and nothing else is broken.  I've already restarted the computer and added this version of Stencyl as an exception to  Windows (Win 10 doesn't seem to like Stencyl).  What's keeping it from compiling?

Is there a program that can tell me what the minimum/recommend systems specks are for my game?

Ask a Question / Crashing on Screen Trasition
« on: August 05, 2019, 08:39:21 am »
One of my player reported a glitch I can't get to happen.  It seems to be crashing on screen transitions, it also appears to not be the same Transition/scene doing it.  Sometimes the next scene loads fine, other times it crashes the game.  I did have this happen occasionally when building the game but using the Atlas system to assign assets only to scenes they appear in seems to have fixed it on my end and for most players.  I really want to fix this, but I can’t figure out what might be causing it and I can’t post the logs here because I There are no logs to post because I can't recreate the glitch any more.

Are there any common causing of stencyl built games crashing on screen transitions that I can look through or anything I can do to make it less likely?

Ask a Question / Re: Smoother Switching

I changed it so the Menus now load in as needed, not at the start of each scene, but even with nothing being created at the start of a scene it still lags a bit.  Anything I'm missing?

That particular one, quite a lot.  The Interface rooms tend to be the worst in terms of choppy loading, though not necessarily the most to do at the start.

I've been developing a large scale game and I've noticed the transitions sometimes feel a little choppy between scenes.  I've included a sample of my scene changing code(it's more or less the same for every switch).  Is there a way to make switching smoother when each scene is around a GB in size?

All there and the error seem to have stopped, not quote sure what caused the issues, but it seems over.

Thanks 1MrPaul1, I didn't think of that.  I've had the black box thing happen before, but last time making the Atlas more efficient/organized.  The Atlases did need updating and that, but it might be something else, (I really don't know) seems to have prevented it aforementioned glitches during testing, but there wasn't that much that needed resorting.  Guess I better check the Resource files too.

« on: December 07, 2017, 08:41:19 am »
After the latest update was done installing my game tests(Cppia and Windows) were brimming with errors that I've not seen in ages.  Black boxes replacing frames of animation, menus turning invisible and inexplicable crashes in scenes that have never had issues. Has any one else having issues after the update?

Ask a Question / Re: Random Integer Causing Lag (coin explosion)
« on: December 05, 2017, 07:30:58 pm »
Not actually, they are farly simple past the creation.  That said I have been doing further tests and the lag seems at it's worst when the player drops their coins.  These does involve some random values and active hit boxes so I've been testing both in the hopes of isolating the issue.  No luck just yet.
