Abandoned Bugs / text drawing is slow(ish) on 3.0 on iPad 3 [LATER]
« on: January 10, 2013, 12:30:45 pm »
I'm working on app with a lot of text and I'm struggling to keep 60fps on a iPad3 - to check that I wasn't doing anything dumb in my code; I created a simple scene that just repeats the same line of text until the screen is full

with a font that is sans Serif, size 10, normal format - I get 52fps on my iPad3 in portrait mode.

Ask a Question / How to empty lists of lists
« on: November 26, 2012, 11:19:50 pm »
Hi there,

I am using a lots of lists that contain other lists... I wanted to check, when I empty the parent list, does it automatically empty each child list? Or do I need to take care of this myself and empty each child list before emptying the parent?

I came across this lib for AWS for Haxe, how hard would it be to implement this? it might be a better approach then implementing the separate AWS OS API's

Does that mean down to the Haxe level or doing code per platform?

Completed / Is it possible to write to a texture...
« on: November 02, 2012, 10:59:13 am »
I am working on a system that has text on top of objects - I would like some way to make a copy of the object texture and then draw text into that object; this is for two reasons, 1) I want to scale, rotate the object with the text intact, 2) it will be better for performance.

is couldn't figure out a way to do this, is it possible???

Thanks,

Joe

Thanks Joe... Couldn't I just add the ASW SDK via the new extension functionality in 3.0? That was the path I was expecting to go down (not sure I'm ready to start making a server side application)

I would like to build in server side data to my app and I'm looking at AWS's SimpleDB - How would I go about hooking this into v3.0?

Thanks,

Joe

Great, thanks!

Thank Coleislazy,

I did look at the ability to use Objective-C code. I also saw that you can export to XCode - and I was hoping that there was a way to include APIs at that point but have them exposed within the Stencyl editor

Also, do you know if anyone who is signed up for the PRO license is able to check out the preview builds of 3.0? it would be good to be able to check out v3.0 prior to me investing a lot of time on switching over to Stencyl.

Thanks again,

Joe

Old Questions (from 1.x/2.x) / Can I use 3rd party iOS APIs with Stencyl
« on: October 29, 2012, 12:30:40 pm »
Hi there,

I have been prototyping with GameSalad but I want a more powerful language / environment to use. Stencyl looks good, but I want to make sure I work with something that is future proof; If, in the future I want to use a 3rd party API for say an alternative to iAds, or a specific analytics platform, how would i go about including that API so that I can access it from within Styencly.

Thanks,

Joe
