(☞゚ヮ゚)☞ PEW! PEW! HEY YOU!

I thought I'd share a little bit of lore for the game today.

When determining the villains for the game, I had to ask myself: "What would be the filthiest, most repulsive, most nefarious form of trash I could use?"

Then I reflected on my life and the answer became clear...

White Trash!

Introducing the main antagonists of the game: The White Trash Army! These mysterious hooded figures promise to save the world from the approaching doom. But do they have more on their evil, trashy agenda!?!?! HMMMM!?!?

They are lead by a mysterious figure known only as "The Whitest Guy I Have Ever Seen".

There are many different ranks within the White Trash organization.

Average, Everyday, Middle Class White Trash:

Elite Armored White Trash:

Thanks for your kind words, everyone!

Woah! Thanks all you fine folks! Your words are inspiring!

@squeeb: Right now my only focus is on computers(PC/Mac/Linux). Yes, I do all make all the art and animation! I take individual pictures in my "Photo shoot" (otherwise known as a decrepit cardboard box, but don't tell anyone, I need to sound professional) I created a detailed diagram to give you a better idea, hopefully it helps you out:

Then I just use the MAGIC OF PHOTOSHOP to cut out the background and such. I do this for every frame of the animation.

And I hope to have some kind of rough(probably fairly glitchy) build soon, within the coming weeks, I can't wait to hear any feedback you beautiful people can provide, good or bad! Again, thanks for the words, means the world to me.

This Game is Trash. A claymation collectathon/adventure game with lots of trash to collect, worlds to explore, and friends to meet.

A great smog cloud will cover the sky and kill everyone in a mere 30 days, you must plan each day accordingly if you have any hope of saving the world!

I've been working on it for just over a year and hope to be finished with it early 2018. My goal is to make the game I really want to play, and hope that there are others with similar game interests!

You can follow me @ConorGarity for updates. I would love to have a playable early build soon to give out to anyone interested to hear feedback. Thanks!! :p

Hey, thanks for all the replies. Im sorry, I made a mistake, it was 500x500 at a 4x scale, whoops!

Thanks for all your advice though!

Oh jeez. So I was re-doing all the work I did the past few days on the game and it suddenly happened again! I didn't import any new art or anything!! I obviously tried deleting the code I just added, but the problem persisted even then! I'm getting a little worried now, I'm not sure if you need more info from me or what, just let me know, I really hope someone has a solution! I'm not sure what I'll do if not!

Kinda both. I have plenty that are about 500kb an 1x and sometimes around 500x500 at 1x as well. These are actors, not backgrounds, which are larger.

Alright, last little update, I tried upgrading to newest stencyl build and the problem didn't get fixed. I've been trying a bunch of different things all day, and no solution :(.

I'll probably go back to my last stable version from a few days ago and just be set back a few days if no one has any more possible leads/solutions, so it's nbd.

But now I am curious, should I be concerned about importing really large images? Like I said, I feel like I have a bunch, but they've been giving me no problems before.

And here's the logs for that

Ok. Exciting new update on the case...

I went back to one of my back up files, and I'm now getting the same "unexpected error" but now it's because it can't read the image for "folder-23" Which I'm assuming is just the folder icon stencyl makes when you make a folder.

Looking in the file for the game, when you first open the file(not in resources file, not sure if supposed to be), you see the pictures for the folder icons. But for whatever reason, the first half of the folder icon images have the generic .png icon and windows photo viewer wont open them.  If I try deleting these images I get the previously explained error.

I'd imagine this is where the problem lies. I've looked around and haven't discovered anyone else having an issue like this.

Again, thanks for your time, any help is very much appreciated...

Hey guys, thanks for all your replies.

@rob: Yes, my game has quite a few images I would consider pretty large, the art is stop motion animation so it's HD photographs. I never had a problem with this in the past though, I've been doing that sort of art for a while and it only just became a problem now. Not only that, I've deleted the past few actors I've imported and it still happens(where it didnt happen before they were imported)

@Jeff: Tried, didn't work :(

@morphman: I'm sorry, I don't fully undertand what you mean. My game has a lot of code and I'm unsure where the source is from. Unless you meant the code it gives you when you hit "details" at the unexpected problem popup, but im pretty sure that's in the logs..

Hey, title pretty much says it. Whenever I try to save my game, I get this "Unexpected Problem" error. I've tried deleting all the past few things I've worked on, but didn't seem to help.

I'm not too savvy with this stuff, I as hoping someone who knew better could check out the logs and maybe lead me in some direction, although I'm unsure how much info they'll give...

Thanks so much in advance!

Hello, whenever I try to click on any actors, scenes, music, or whatever else in stencyl, I get the "Unexpected Problem" pop up, then the "opening..." box stays there forever and the component never opens. I have no idea what the problem is, it just started happening.

Before, I sometimes got this pop up whenever I tried opening a background in stencyl, which started happening after I updated Stencyl to the latest version, but it was never with all components until now.

Anyway, I attached logs. Any help would be most appreciated, considering I can't even work on my game until I fix this...

When I click on "details" this is what comes up:

Ask a Question / Saves remaining when updating game?
« on: July 10, 2016, 04:30:03 am »

I was just curious, does Stencyl have a feature, or maybe there is some sort of extension, that allows creators to update their game on websites without erasing any previous save data for players? Does it depend on the website/platform you upload on?

Or does every user's saves always reset when you update your game, i'd imagine there has to be some way...

I have no real idea how this stuff works, hopefully someone smarter than me knows something.

Chit-Chat / Unlockables
« on: June 05, 2015, 04:39:18 am »
Hello all!

I have a general game design question that I am curious about.

In my game, there is gear that players can unlock through doing certain things in the game. I was wondering what your opinions were on whether or not a designer should tell how certain items are unlocked in the game. I believe that with unlocks that change the game or are of major importance, the information to unlock them should be given, but what about less major items, like outfits that players can wear(like hats in tf2), which is the case here. I love the feeling of unlocking a secret that I had no idea was coming, but I think letting players have another goal to work towards is good too. This question isn't really troubling me or anything like a serious problem that's keeping me from moving forward with my game, but I thought it would be interesting to see what some of you would do and any suggestions you may have.
