Ask a Question / Ideas for tetris like game behavior

What would be the best way to make actors and have them move downward continously. I thought about using gravity but it seems to take a lot of memory. Also I would love to have them fall in a tile like movement.

I was thinking every X seconds have the actors move but I dont know whats more taxing on game performance an always event or time event?

I love your mechanics and it just looks amazing. I have a few questions if you dont mind.

How was the transition from stencyl to unity?

Also, what are some major benefits you saw by  moving your project to unity?

One more question, what made you choose the kickstarter goal for wiiU when 3ds seems to be a great fit and is selling great. My best guess is its going to be one of those games you just want to curl up on your couch and play on the big screen?

A good game needs at least 38 days.
Not always the case, but usually true. Been working on mine 2 weeks now, almost non-stop, and only around 1/4 of the game is done :D

Those 38 days do not account for weekends though.

what if instead of regions you used invisible actors as triggers turn off all physics for the actor and check the " Is a sensor?" box.

It has some great mechanics I especially love how randomly some enemy skeltons dont die completely and the upper torso continues to attack you. I think the animations and actors look real good, I think giving the tilesets more depth would improve the feel of the game greatly. Like shadowing and such. Also the scene with the huge skeleton is cool but the frame rate is struggling you should def. change the skeletons that form the monster to drawing. Look up abigals tutorial to learn how the your frame rate will be fine.

your avreging 20fps and I the game kind of crashed when trying to move the box by entering the new scene which was stuck and took like 10 min. in order to push it out of the little cave area

why dont you message skydive, colburt is right skydive managed to get the joint working very well on his wheels. I ran into similar issues in a past game and worst case scenario you can do what I did, that is make the wheels ice friction and animate them when you move. worst case scenario that is.

what if you used a large square region going from the left and right corners to the top corner that triggers the building to be transparent.

I am guessing you will have to use terrain for collision or possible make invisible tiles or actors for collision and have them line up with the appropriate walls.

Also if you had a door way you could put a small region in it that would trigger the walls of the building to become translucent. Or even two small regions the activate a boolean. One on the out side that sets the boolean to false and one on the inside that sets it to true, this in return would trigger the building effect. Just a few quick ideas hopefully might help.

Warzone I agree with photon, like your puzzle tower defense game it's a great idea and has tons of potential and if it was really polished looking, had a nice art style, good music, multiple modes and leader boards it could probably get a ton of downloads.

Speaking of which I think I talked to you about leader boards before and someone told me about some really good options for android games on one of the last pages of the "3.0 release" discussion I can find it for you if you want me to/ cant find it your self.

and photon, i will definatly take your advice, i do rush though most to quickly. i for some reason couldnt fix the multiplying glitch? any suggestions how to?
