28-Minute Jam 1

- Irock (Trees go to Town on You LLAMA)

Reviews (in order played):

Trees go to Town on You LLAMA

This humorous sandbox game had me ROFLing and LMAOing at the unexpected and quirky behavior of the two-eyed things. Graphics were a nice 8 bit style, though the blinking I's were a little jarring. Overall an enjoyable experience. Great game!!

This abomination of 27 minutes of coding and 1 minutes of testing and short breaks is one of the most frustrating games you will play all day. Maybe even tomorrow, too. The amusing graphic style will pull you in, but there's nothing amusing about the gameplay. I probably spent more time trying to beat it than Blob spent making it. Worst game ever! (I did beat it eventually. Never playing this game again).

First Place: Blob
Second Place: Irock

Congratulations to you both! I'm looking forward to 28-Minute Jam II

Data Structures Extension

Create and manage data structures in Stencyl. For example, for an RPG you can create a "Character" structure with attributes like hp, mp, and level.

Extras Manager Extension (Beta)

Access the extras folder from within Stencyl.

It's late and I need to go to school early, so I'll update this thread properly later.

Screenshots: See attachments.

- Make sure to go to the Extension Options page to set your image/text editors.
- Rename button doesn't do anything yet.
- No drag and drop yet.
- Lots of the GUI is really ugly right now.

Get it

- Use the following repository:

4/3/14 - Initial Beta Release
12/6/14 - Added some DnD, improved UI, everything keeps updated with the filesystem

Display actor and scene names in the behavior/attribute name pickers instead of "ActorEvents_XX" or "SceneEvents_XX".

I went ahead and did this as a step toward getting back to development. I'll just move it to Completed Suggestions.

Chit-Chat / Second best site ever???

No not really.

I've had a bunch of Stencyl tech demos and junk just laying around for a while and I figured I'd put them in a limelight somewhere. Plus I felt like learning css, javascript, and PHP.

Most of the site is really half a joke and half me trying to learn something new, but I do encourage anybody to take a look at the games section and let me know if you see anything that interests you. That section at the least, I would like to expand in the future.

So yeah.

Shared Resources / Crayon Drawing
« on: February 19, 2012, 07:56:53 am »

Draw with mouse. Change color with number keys 1 through 8.

Looking for feedback. How does the crayon drawing feel? Does it actually seem "crayon"-like? One concern I have is that it's too much like an airbrush...

Just ignore the HUD stuff at the bottom. Or you can use it to clear the current drawing.

All demos:
Demo 1: Drawing
Demo 2: Runtime Scene Drawing With Paths

Resolved Questions / Can't sign in to StencylWorks
« on: April 20, 2011, 11:17:25 pm »
Just downloaded the latest version and installed for the first time.

I was presented the Sign In screen when I first opened sw, and I entered in my username/password. I couldn't access StencylForge, so I tried opening the Sign In dialog from the File menu. When I try to open the dialog, this appears in the console.

Resolved Questions / AlchemyExit error?
« on: March 28, 2011, 01:07:05 pm »
I've suddenly begun getting this error. It seems like it's related to the physics engine? The top couple parts of the stack trace seem to be missing though. Anybody with prior experience, or who knows why this error happens?

Ask a Question / [Idea] Menu Builder Extension
« on: March 19, 2011, 04:01:31 pm »
With the support for extensions, I was hoping to create a WYSIWYG menu builder for the RPG Kit (well, it wouldn't necessarily be limited to that Kit, of course). Before extensions, I was limited to Design Mode and Custom Blocks in terms of user friendliness, so a WYSIWYG editor would be a big step up.

So the WYSIWYG editor sounds great and all, but I'm not sure how to save the data so that it can be read during the games runtime. In the previous incarnation of the menu builder, every menu and menu component had its own behavior. With this method, there was a great number of behaviors needed for every scene, so I ended up adding all the behaviors to the scene at runtime -- something I consider hackish, and I'd rather not resort to that again.

The bottom line is, I'd like as seamless an integration as possible. Open extension, edit menus, (close extension?), test game. Is such integration even possible at this point?
