it could do with a overhaul, cleanup and some kind of monitoring to keep out the useless items, like every man and his dog uploading there crash course, but a forge should be free, a separate store "StencylStore" would maybe be better IMO, there's a clear distinction between the 2 Forge is for free stuff and demos etc and Store is for the spenders among us, A Store would also bring income to Stencyl via commission of sales (all stores work like this?) so it would be worth a little work

I think the reality is though that neither of those are going to happen, I would just be happy to see it get a spring clean!

I agree on this, but I do hope that they do make a store for us developers. I have a all in one platform behavior I would like to sell. It's highly more advanced than what's on there now. Maybe in the mean time I might sell it on a website or something..

I posted this: http://community.stencyl.com/index.php/topic,43538.new.html#new  some hours ago and haven't found a solution to get it working. I heard from a thread that this was going to be added in 3.1,  but I'm guessing a block for this doesn't seem to exist at this moment. I think having this type of block could be beneficial for many things like... adding an Actor Type by name into a List or Text attribute. Imagine when the player collides with an item in a specific actor group and the name of the item can be added to a list for your inventory, or destroy a bullet at a certain distance using the same actor behavior that your player uses. Possibilities could be endless!

Trying to figure out a way to do this. By the looks of it I don't see any blocks for "Actor by name" I'll add it to suggestions I guess...

In my opinion that would eventually make searching for a free item in the forge a nightmare. Everyone would try to charge for any behavior in there, and there are plenty of simple ones that should not have a fee attached to them. Not to mention the amount of duplicates that exist and the amount of work that would have to be done on Stencyl's end to allow selling assets/behaviors in the forge.
People can still use the forums to try to sell assets or extensions, and they can use the Payed Work subforum to request for behaviors.

Yes I just noticed that, but also I don't agree with what he says. Also that's a year old...

How would I get an actors name within an actor's group when"Self" actor collides with it? So then I can add it to a list?

I added an example below in a picture for what I'm trying to do.

I think that behavior is for getting an Actor Type by name, not a specific actor instance. (Btw. the block for that will be in the core palette in 3.1.)

The name field in the scene inspector is currently unused.

What do you want to achieve? Usually, for clicking on an actor you would create an actor behavior and there you can just refer to the actor as "Self".

I don't see the block for this. Am I missing something?

Stencyl's premade behaviors have a back and forth horizontal and a up and down vertical behavior in it's  motion folder.  These will work for platforms. 

Thank you for the reply. I didn't know these existed! but... not really what I'm looking for since cos and sin do it more efficiently..

making an actor "moving platform" move in the direction, speed, and distance I need using the attributes above so I can edit the attributes when needed.

I have 3 attributes I'm working with:

Speed of Platform? (Tells how fast the platform is going.)
Distance of Platform? (Tells the distance the platform moves to.)
Direction of Platform? (In text it tells what direction it goes in from the start.)

What would be the mathematical problem to make this work? I'm using the following and it doesn't seem to work like it should with x-speed or y-speed. Does anyone have the solution for this to work?
