I'm working on my first IOS project and had the exact same problem. works in simulator, not on device. It would load splash screen and then crash.

The problem for me was the assets. Check how big your "atlases" are under settings -> atlases.

Mine were 70meg at x1 and I chopped them down to 15meg at x1 and now it works fine. It was just too much to load all at once.

(Now i'm trying to figure out why a 50kb png becomes 2megs in the atlases at x1).

Hope this helps.

Ask a Question / Re: MAC OS Certificates
« on: May 11, 2016, 11:40:05 am »
I guess I'm doing something wrong with the certificates for OSX. I'm perplexed by the plethora of certificates.

Certificates
- Development
- Pending

Provisioning Profiles
- Development
- Distribution

In keychain I have installed:

3rd party mac developer application
3rd plarty mac developer installer
mac developer:
developer id installer:
developer id application:
apple worldwide developer relations certificate authority

I'm signed in with xcode and have mac development / distribution / installer distribution / developer id application and developer id installer created and have downloaded the provisioning profile for the app.

Okay, it "seems" that I have the 3 certificates that are listed in "step 1"

i've done step 2 and 3 no problem and I exported desktop -> mac with no errors.

Now i tried to export desktop -> mac app store, and i get an error "could not sign app for the mac app store"

Ask a Question / MAC OS Certificates
« on: May 10, 2016, 12:15:42 pm »
Hi,

I'm having trouble trying to wade through the maze that is apple certificates. This walkthrough seems a little outdated, is there any up to date one available?

http://www.stencyl.com/help/viewArticle/198

Basically I'm just trying to sign a mac app for distribution (inside or out of the mac app store)

thanks.

have you done multiplayer before for mobile games?

is it through a stencyl extension, and if so, is it easy to implement?

If I have a tweening effect going on an actor (i.e. spin), is there any way to stop it?

thanks in advance!

Resolved Questions / [Solved] Growing/Scaling Regions
« on: May 02, 2016, 05:45:18 am »
Any way to grow/scale a region? or to link a regions size to the collision box size of an actor?

Basically I'm trying to see when an actor STOPS colliding with another actor, so I will link a region to the collision box and use "when actor exits region"

- collision shapes of the actor were constantly changing, couldnt get the region box to grow simultaneously with it but i did a "work around" using a timer.

Ask a Question / Simulate mouse click
« on: April 30, 2016, 11:43:29 am »
Hello,

When my project first loads up it is unresponsive to keyboard controls until i click with a mouse somewhere on the screen (to make it the active window?).

Is there anyway to simulate a mouse click or to make it the active window (or some other method)?

thanks.

Ask a Question / Run - Clean Project
« on: April 30, 2016, 11:40:21 am »
So, I thought I completely finished my first game.

I fixed all known bugs, removed all unused gfx/behaviors/sounds etc, played through it a couple thousand times, etc etc etc, and as a very final step did a "run -> clean project". After that a couple errors popped up on the compile regarding behaviors. the "run -> clean project" found 1 or 2 errors that were hidden i'm guessing because of cache files used. I'm wondering if some other "issues" might come up in the gameplay.

My question is, should I thoroughly test my game again in case of some other bugs? i'm leaning towards no.  i've run through superficially and found nothing.

Chit-Chat / Re: Full-Time Stencyler Journey (updated for Mar)
« on: April 30, 2016, 11:32:07 am »
One person mentioned to me that if you have a signed contract and the client does not pay, you can submit the invoice to a collections agency. That may only work with people in the same country. I do not know if collection agencies work internationally. Having an invoice submitted to a collection agency could have a sever impact on the person's credit score. I think the threat of doing that may cause the client to pay.

considering its a legal and binding document etc etc etc, collection agencies usually work in one of two ways.

either they pay upfront and buy the invoice outright but usually only give pennies on the dollar, or they will give you a more substantial percentage once they collect (however if they fail to collect, you get nothing).

Many people balk at getting pennies on the dollar. My belief is that if you know you will never see the payment, sell the invoice, better to get a very little something then a whole lot of nothing.
