Ask a Question / Getting scene attributes from a scene event
« on: June 12, 2012, 12:17:59 pm »
worked it out, using a "trigger event for scene" (used in the scene behaviour, to trigger event in scene). In the events I added a custom event called SetGlobalScore, and done all the logic in there.

Hello everyone,

So I really have only started getting into 2.x and now feel like I may have just lost a couple of things I had previously learnt. So, I have a few events in the scene. I want to attach a scene behaviour now that will get the score attained from the level and add it to a global score value.

Is there a way I can just do something like GlobalScore = get <score> from scene?

Maybe I'm not searching hard enough in the actual code blocks, but I can't find anything similar.

Probably need some sort of algorithm to just get the positions.

Something like

when created
Repeat <number of items to add> times
create <actor> at x: <random number between<0 and number of positions> + gap between each position y: pretty much the same

As you can see, it's confusing, I've got a headache now.

Another good idea would be to, hold alt and drag an actor to duplicate it.

Just an update

We're heading out tomorrow morning (very early) to go to the event! I'll make sure to get some cool stuff like pictures/video etc (and beer).

On your pc/mac whatever you use, search for the folder "StencylWorks" or "Stencyl" dependant on which version you are using, once you find the folder, drag all the games you wanna keep out of the folder.

Uninstall stencyl and remove the stencyl folder.

reinstall, place the folder(s) you dragged out of the stencyl folder

should work

if not

don't pass go, don't collect $200

If you have already published flash games or simple want to earn extra money. All you need to do is to sell game ONLY for Chinese Region! so you still keep rights to sell on other place or do what you want.
PM.Or post message here

Could you explain a little more, please?

I'll fix a few things and upload a new version :)

you can do

if <x of <self>> is lower than 0
set x of <self> to 0

if x of <self> is higher than screenwidth - width of self
set x of <self> to screenwidth - width of self

you figure the rest out for Y axis.

This may help

I might add, that if you make any profit from using these, you'll be liable for any copyright infringements. For all I know this is a private work for yourself and your own enjoyment. Don't commit copyright things! it's bad.

Let me find my mouse..  >:( Your going down!!

Le me 6 hours on Stencyl: ......It can walk! o.0
He makes a game...

I would classify this as a game, yes. But come on, what do you really do with this. When I started it, I must have made like 3/4 behaviors before I was like....the games almost done. The music took probably 1hour, the menu and icons/player another hour, making sure it felt comfortable to play another hour.

The point I'm making is:

This may be a game, but it's a very simple, fun and easy game to make. I didn't go with my original pong remake idea cause that seemed harder. It's important to take a game you have played (a really simple one) and build it. Without doing that, you'll only say to your self "how do they do it" after so long and you'll think you cant make these games, when really, it's very possible. we're all human.

If you want I can let you see the source project for this game, so you can learn. (pm me if you do want to have a look)
