I just played a round on my iPod3, it runs smooth and the iAds work flawlessly.
The game is pretty cool! I'm in Level 7 atm. No issues. Congrats!

Sry for the double mentioning but the topic (,18524.0.html) wasn't moved to the Bugs sub-forum... so maybe it was overseen.

I recognized that the accelerometer values for both, x- and y-axis are reversed between iOS and Android targets (even without having auto-rotate enabled).

i.e. after setting an actor's x-speed to a positive multiplicated x-accelerometer value, the actor moves to the right on Android but to the left on iOS when tilting the device to the right.

Not a crucial thing though. Testgame attached.

Looks promising. And sounds a bit like "Rick Dangerous" :))
I'm definitely on the lookout for this.

I'm totally impressed so far. The game is rad!  8) (and I can hardly believe it didn't hit the frontpage on NG yet)
I got one little suggestion though, that a LOT of devs don't consider:

When you use "Z" as a control option, make it redundant with "Y". Some european countries (i.e. germany/austria/czech republic) have a different keyboard layout called QWERTZ or kezboard... I think you get the point ;) - the Z and Y keys are switched (in germany we also got some funny keys like ä,ö,ü)

Changing this would be the icing on the cake.

Going back for some more beers now :))

AHHHHH THE JOY!! Just saw that it's finished... gonna burn through it tonight :))
This brings back memories of "Bio Menace" and "Dangerous Dave in the Haunted Mansion" and all the other old stuff from ID Software and Apogee.

And wow, almost two years! Congrats on having such a power of endurance.

Awesome! How does performance compare with the previous version?

No performance/memory issues so far. Even on iPod4 it's running fine now (it used to crash nearly instantly which is why it got some bad reviews in the AppStore).

I think this is mainly because of 2 things:

1. The new atlas system which allows every scene to have its own atlas, holding just the stuff it needs in memory.
2. The reduced size of the GFX assets due to pngquant.

It's also interesting that this game has no issues with the reference table entries that mguido's game did, despite this one having twice the actor count and many more resources overall than his.

The first version was converted from 2.x but didn't even start under Android due to a heap memory overflow (although it built successfully). So the decision was made to re-create everything from scratch in 3.0 to have a clean setup.

With all the existing assets it took only a few days and now it's running smooth :)

@rob1221: The public release of his game was after the announcement... shouldn't it be fine with the terms then?

@xandramas: Nice one :) Although the difficulty curve is a bit too high at the beginning in my opinion. The game gets easier as you make progress.

(iOS only) App Size Tips

iOS apps can be as large as 2 GB, but consider download times when determining your app’s size. Minimize the file’s size as much as possible, keeping in mind that there is a 50 MB limit for over-the-air downloads.

Thanks for the comments :)

start small, ship games quickly and know the limits, at least until you have a hit or two and can then try something riskier.

Until then, it doesn't make a lot of sense plunking down 6 months - 1 year on a game without having exposed yourself to the entire cycle of releasing a game to the store, seeking reviews, promoting it, etc.
Very good advice and something many people incl. myself had to learn the hard way. This could be mentioned somewhere in the wiki as a sidenote.

@mguido730: I get your point and I think it's clear that Cubus Velox was inspired by "The Impossible Game". However, the leveldesign and overall game structure really is a different one here. I'm pretty sure that some people will call it a clone because of the geometric shapes (even without having played it) but that's a risk I'm willing to take.

@Innes: It roughly took 2 months to make (75% of the time was spent on creating content).

This minimalistic game was forged for trying out all of Stencyl's available major distribution targets (Android, iOS, Flash, Mac, Chrome Web Store, Windows 8, HTML5 and Linux).

Cubus Velox is a one-button, high-speed, extreme difficult platformer. Guide the Cubus through 30 levels filled with seemingly impassable passages and defy gravity while you're gliding through vast fields of spikes and traps.

To achieve your intention, try "_self" instead of "_blank".

However, coleislazy gave the correct answer to your initial question.
