Resolved Questions / Re: Wind (importing attributes values problem)
« on: March 14, 2014, 07:34:55 pm »
According to what I see on tutorials i did the whole work right...
Drawing the values on Leaf behavior gives me NaN which clearly means i do not have the good value (not even the type of value is detected  :-\)

- I can see that you try to set the velocity of your "Leaf" actors with random directions and force.
- I believe the problem is that you are using the wrong blocks in your "Leaf_moves" actor to get the values of your "Map_Weather" scene in the set velocity block.
- Instead of using "For [self], get [_attribute] from behavior [Map_weather]", try to use "For this scene, get [_attribute] from behavior [Map_weather]"
What you're doing is that you are trying to get the values from the actor "Leaf" which do not exist. They do, however, exist in your scene's "Map_weather" behavior.
Good luck fixing your problems :)

Ask a Question / Re: Follow mouse with actor on extended scene?

Can you post a screenshot of what it looks like when your actor is left behind?
Do you have a behavior that move your camera on the "extended scene"? If not you need to find or make one that moves your camera.

Ask a Question / Re: text drawn behind actor

- Add events > Basics > When drawing.
- Click the "Drawing" tab and add the "Draw text [anything] at (x:0 y:0)" block.
- Put your desired text in it and change the X and Y

After you're able to draw your text, you can try and change the styles of the text if you wish in the "Styles" tab.

Try to fix your problems in Stencylpedia before asking a question:

Whenever I tried to make a game before, I often do very little to no planning because I only focused on having fun and getting better at using Stencyl. However, my new goal now is that I want my game to be successful and finished. I used to just add game functions as I make it and it would end up being a mess. Now I realized how crucial it is to plan before making a game. Actually, it has to be planned very well otherwise it will not be finished from my past experience.

I think one way is to put down all the game info and gameplay in a word document, game behaviors and what it should do, etc... into a word document and make it as organized as possible. Perhaps a map of game mechanics? Please tell me what you think on this.

Ask a Question / Re: Why aren't items being added to my list?
« on: July 30, 2013, 05:12:40 pm »
The values in the lists "Usernames" and "Passwords" in Stencyl settings are the initial values when you start the game and not the values when you saved the game.

For example, if I add "Admin" and "123456" to the "Usernames" and "Passwords" lists in Settings then they are already in the list when you start the game.

When you save the game, a game save file will be saved some where in your computer and you cannot check the values contained in the lists by going to Settings. However, you can check the values in the lists by printing all items when you load game.

Make new controls from 1 to 9. Use if statement to check if keys 1-9 are pressed. Under those if statements , add the number you just pressed to a text attribute. Check if the enter key is pressed, under the if block check if the text attribute equals the answer. Go on from there.

First, read this:

I'm assuming you already made the "Level up" behavior and your level attribute is a game attribute. Put the "Save game and then..." block when your character levels up. Put the "Load save file and then..." block when your first scene is created.

Well that's nice for a start but one thing I would want to add is pressing keys instead of clicking so i can play multiple notes at the same time and I don't have to move my mouse around which is pretty annoying for me haha.

It's playable but too laggy for me. I would use tiles instead of actors for blocks.

« on: July 06, 2013, 07:34:01 pm »
Just because I used to love Maplestory so much I can help you with any behavior if you want :)
Here are some ideas I would add next:

- Remove jump on kill behavior and add attack and damage with sword.
- Hit points for both player and monsters.
- Basic stats such as hp,mp,exp, str, dex, vit, luck.
- Inventory and skills

And just add new things from there. I can make any behavior mentioned so PM if you need help.

EDIT: you also might want to lower the resolution. For a flash game it's way to big.

Ask a Question / Re: Can't open anything

I tried using Stencyl again a few days ago and it happened again. The game wasn't even big and when I was making some custom behaviors they get all bugged so I restarted Stencyl. When I open any behavior "Opening..." stays on the screen forever.
