Ask a Question / Can't open anything

The game runs fine when I test it but when I try to open actors, scenes, behaviors, or whatever Stencyl will keep saying "Opening...". This happened to one of my games before and no one helped me so I ended up giving up on it. Now I would either try to fix it or give up on using Stencyl.

So I have just made a basic dungeon generator and now I have no idea how to cover unexplored tiles. The only way that I could think of is create an actor for every unexplored tile but that would create massive lags or maybe a better approach would be creating another layer of tiles?

Also, I'm using a black transparent actor that is 2 times bigger than the screen size to create the "vision" effect and I wonder if there's a way to reduce the lag because the actor is too big and it's always active and follow the actor when it moves.

It's not that hard to make an inventory system actually. Here's how my inventory system works:

I make a game attribute list and 16 values are "none", which means 16 empty inventory slots.
0 none
...15 none

Now lets say I pick up a new "sword" item and put the item in the first slot. The list changes to:
0 sword
15 none

When I open my inventory, new actors will be created if the value in the slots is not "none" (loop 16 times). So in this case it will attempt to create a new actor "sword" <-- how to create actor with text

Now you can set X and Y of the item that you just created.

Also Kongregate is one of the biggest game portal. Your game will spread to other smaller portals if you get good rating and plays.

"Crazy Steam Bros" it´s reaching the 1,5 million plays mark. The game has been sponsored two times, and with the revenues from ads, the total income are about 1200-1300 $. I think that it´s not bad, assuming that it´s my first game and nobody knows me before at FGL.

1.5 millions on which website? and do you only get ad revenues from kongregate?

Ask a Question / Blocks in behaviors get removed after I restarted stencyl!

I tested my game and it was buggy for some reason so I restarted Stencyl. Then when I started Stencyl again I opened the behaviors that I was working on and they are all gone...Also I got a lot of errors. I'm so upset right now because there were important behaviors and I have spent at least 1 month working on them.

Also I was running out of disk space so that could the problem but now I really need to recover the behaviors :(

Thanks haha. I think you dont really need to make many stats for an RPG to be succesful though. The game just need to be fun and addictive. Also, the reason why I want to made so many stats is that my graphics are going to be not good so I only focus on gameplay by creating a lot of skills and challenges to to the game.

It's going to be my first completed game and I'm planning to make money off of it too. The inventory and equipment system was a lot of work for me because I had to deal with list. Its graphics is not going to be great so I will just focus on the gameplay and make it as fun as I could.
