Resolved Questions / Is HiDPI support for Windows possible?
« on: April 23, 2014, 05:28:01 am »
I've searched the forums and the internet for HiDPI support or workarounds for Stencyl on Windows, but all I've found is a thread about retina support for Mac. I did open a thread asking about a solution for HiDPI screens (http://community.stencyl.com/index.php/topic,31355.msg179410.html), lowering my screen resolution was suggested, so I did. It works fine now but everything is blurry.

Is HiDPI support coming to Stencyl Windows? If not, do any other solutions exist?

That sounds like it would fix the issue. I did some looking around, and all the solutions I found were for people trying fix scaling problems on apps they're developing, it sounded too complicated for me. Isn't there a way to allow Stencyl to scale like it does in OSX?

I've tried lowering my resolution to 1080, but everything looks so blurry, it's unbearable.
I found a guide on how to enable hidpi support for Chrome by using registry files. Is there anything similar for Stencyl?

Ask a Question / Stencyl and HiDPI display issues (windows 8.1)

Hi,

My new work laptop's resolution is 3200x1800 and Stencyl looks so tiny that I can't properly read anything. (screenshot attached to this post)
I tried disabling display scaling in hiDPI settings, didn't work. Any idea how to fix this?

I'm sorry to hear that, but that tutorial is the simplest touch/multiple touch available.

No, I think html5 export is not supported.

Ask a Question / Re: Unpause problem (keeps firing missile on resume)
« on: March 30, 2014, 05:54:06 am »
Try using the <game is paused> boolean. The "fire missile" action should be when the game is not paused, while the resume button when the game is paused. Or you could just make a boolean and use it.

That's the exact code I use in this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dereliktgames.spacehoppers
As for the jumping part, I feel that using the <push sharply> with the <set y-speed to 0> before it works quite nicely.

The rotation part could work better with some tweaking based on how much force you're pushing the actor.

Check out the screenshots attached below. I use the first one for the "jumping/hopping" mechanic, the second one is for the direction the actor faces while jumping. I hope this helps.

Ask a Question / Re: [How-to] Reappear after collision
« on: March 26, 2014, 04:52:53 am »
Try making an animation for the Enemies that has nothing -like a transparent picture- and a different collision group. Then on collision with the player, switch the enemy animation to the invisible one. After that you can switch the animation back using the <after ... sec> and <random number between .. and .. >.

Instead of changing the velocity, control the X,Y of the boxes/player, that way you don't have to worry about them being pushed away. Oh, also try changing physics attributes for the actors.
