Ask a Question / Re: [URGENT] Leaderboard problem
« on: September 06, 2013, 11:01:53 am »
Hi rob,
This is the manual: http://track.g-bot.net/trackguide.pdf

At page 3 it explain how to implement it...
I've the track url that manual mentioned: http://track.g-bot.net/track_stat.php?id=flyingchops
The API consists only in a .fla (trackAS3.fla) that you can download in the manual.
But I don't know how to do with this file...

Thanks in advance,
Alessandro

Thank you Rob, seems to work!  :D

I've another question...
My sponsor want to track the game with g-bot tracker.
In the directory I've found this .fla file with this code:

Code: [Select]
if( loaderInfo.url.substring(0,4) != "file")
{
Security.allowDomain("*");
Security.loadPolicyFile("http://track.g-bot.net/crossdomain.xml");

var variables:URLVariables = new URLVariables();
variables.id = "flyingchops"; // you game ID
variables.ui = loaderInfo.url;

var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://track.g-bot.net/track.php");
request.method = "POST";
request.data = variables;

var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
loader.load(request);
}

// TRACK.G-BOT.NET DOCUMENTATION
// ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

// [ what is it ? ]
// this code will send a packet to the g-bot server, the server will store your game id on its database allowing
// you to see traffic details at : http://track.g-bot.net/track_stat.php?id=your_game_id_here

// [ how to use this ? ]
// add this code to FRAME 1 of the game for best results, dont forget to set your own unique ID

// [ IMPORTANT ] try to make sure that this code cannot get stuck inside some loop, or else the remote bot is forced
// to block your account, making the tracking report permanently disabled. A good way to secure the code is
// checking and locking it with a local boolean etc.

// [ troubleshooting ]
// Q: I cannot compile this FLA!
// A: for compatibility reasons this file was saved as a Flash8 AS2 document without AS3 support,
// please copy the AS3 code into your own project to make it compile correctly.

But if I copy-paste this into a code block Stencyl return this error.

Ask a Question / [URGENT] Leaderboard problem
« on: September 05, 2013, 02:06:36 pm »
Hi,

I'm not able to implement this leaderboard script to my game, could anyone help me?
I need to send the game tomorrow and this is the last thing that I should do... :(

I think that I've succesfully imported the script into the game.
I made a new freeform code with Name and Class Name "LeaderBoard".
After that I've deleted all things that stencyl puts automatically, pasted the script, and then changed the first line in "package scripts".
The problem is that I don't know what to write into the "code" block to send the score.

There are two comment into the script:
Quote
   /**
    *
    * To use simply import the class and call init
    * passing in the display object from the root class
    *
    * The gameId will be acquired from flashvars
    */
      /**
       * Static submitScore is used to submit your game score
       * to the leaderboard system
       * Simply pass in the score you wish to submit
       *
       * @param   score
       */

And this is the entire code:

Code: [Select]
package scripts
{
import flash.display.DisplayObjectContainer;
import flash.display.LoaderInfo;
import flash.external.ExternalInterface;

/**
*
* To use simply import the class and call init
* passing in the display object from the root class
*
* The gameId will be acquired from flashvars
*/

final public class LeaderBoard
{
public static const GAMEID_KEY:String = "GAMEID";
public static var gameId:String = "null";

public static function init(parent:DisplayObjectContainer)
{
try {

var paramObj:Object = LoaderInfo(parent.loaderInfo).parameters;

var keyStr:String;

    for (keyStr in paramObj) {

        var valueStr:String = String(paramObj[keyStr]);

        if (keyStr.toUpperCase() == GAMEID_KEY) {

gameId = valueStr;
        }
}

} catch (error:Error) {

trace("LeaderBoard::init::Error Loading Flash Vars:" + error);
}
}

/**
* Static submitScore is used to submit your game score
* to the leaderboard system
* Simply pass in the score you wish to submit
*
* @param score
*/
public static function submitScore(score:String)
{
if (ExternalInterface.available)
{
ExternalInterface.call("submitScoreToLeaderBoard", score, gameId);

} else
{
trace("LeaderBoard::submitScoreToLeaderBoard::Error: External Interface Not Available, score was not submitted!");
}
}
}
}

Thanks in advance,
Alessandro

Resolved Questions / Re: x-speed from slide block
« on: June 09, 2013, 11:58:44 pm »
As SadiQ said, I was in the right path with the speed formula.
I've tried some edits to the formula and finally I did it!

To detect the speed of an actor that moves with slide block you have to apply this formula
Speed = Space (Pixel of the movement) / Time (Seconds x 10)

Cheers,
Alessandro

Resolved Questions / [SOLVED] x-speed from slide block
« on: June 09, 2013, 05:12:25 am »
Hi,

Is there a way to calculate the x-speed of an actor that moves with the slide block?
I've tried with the classic equation like speed = space / time but it doesn't work...
If I try to move another actor with the result of this equation it doesn't move at the same speed.
What I've to put in "space"? The pixel value of the movement?
Is there any solution?

Thanks in advance,
Alessandro

Ask a Question / Re: Saving with Code
« on: May 27, 2013, 04:34:18 am »
Same here, the load code seems to not load lists.
I've tried to change a list of boolean attributes with single boolean attributes and it worked.

Could anyone please take a look? :)

Thanks in advance,
Alessandro

Congrats on the sponsorship. This is a pretty big catch for you I imagine?

Yes, it has been a great opportunity to work with organized and professional people!
And obviously economically...  :)

Nice job (even if its a reskin of bugongo!) .. out of curiosity - how did the CN sponsorship come about? Did you contact them? or did they contact you asking for a complete reskin after seeing bugongo?

They have contacted me through a person on FGL and the "Easy Game License" program. :)

Windows / Mac / Flash / HTML5 / Grab That Grub - Cartoon Network
« on: May 16, 2013, 12:54:44 am »

Grab That Grub is all about Cyborg keeping Silkie safe during a dangerous dash through the city. Starfire has asked Cyborg to take her pet worm, Silkie, for a walk. He's happy enough to help, but he soon finds out it's harder than he thinks to keep that mischievous silkworm safe from enemies, obstacles and other dangers. Run, jump and crash through barriers as you try to get Silkie safely to the goal of each level.

The game is inspired to Teen Titans Go!, an animated series of Cartoon Network for the launch of the new season.
It's not a brand new game, but a reskin of my first game Bugongo, with dedicated graphics!
You can see a "trailer" on the Cartoon Network's homepage at the moment, you have to wait the end of the other 2 games. :)

You can play it also in Stencyl Arcade.

Ouch, I've found the problem.
It was caused by the variable bitrate of a song.
The strange thing is that Stencyl shows you an error but the game still work in playtest.
But if you try to export, Stencyl freezes at 33%.  :'(

Alessandro

10 minutes.
But it's an early project so I think that I should restart the game, by exporting all the behaviors...
It freezes at 33%, strange because playtest works great.

Hi Joe,

I'm making a brand new game... If I test it all works fine, but if I try to export stencyl freezes at "Generating 33%".
Can't figure out what is the problem. :(
I've attached logs.

Thanks in advance,
Alessandro
