Ask a Question / Re: X of Self
« on: December 02, 2012, 10:35:37 pm »
I'm thinking that everyone probably already knows this, but if you <control> click on a block such as "X of Self", you get a pop up box that will have a "help" link. When selected, the "help" link takes you directly to a brief explanation of the block and, in some cases, an example of how to use the block. Nice feature.  8)

I did go to the help, but the info is a bit outdated, it's about when the block was only "x of [self]", without s-center or x (on screen)

Ask a Question / Tetris
« on: December 02, 2012, 07:06:40 pm »
Hello, i was trying to recreate Tetris on Stencyl, and i was wondering, when you complete a line and it dissappears, and only a part of a piece was part of that line, that parts dissapears and the rest drops. How would you manage that?, have each composing block be a different actor? change the animation to the corresponding blocks according to the situation?

Changing the origin point to top left makes it move a whole lot more when rotating, so i'm guessing that my problem is that the frame includes transparent space around the piece, and is using the corner of that space to determine x-position, i'll try to trim the frame and see what happens

Yeah, that was it.

Well, my problem, more specifically, is that, i told the actor that if his x position was less than 32, set it to 32, but it stops it at 64 instead of 32.

Ask a Question / X of Self

I was wondering what is the difference between x of self, x-center of self and x (on screen) of self. For example, when applied to a square actor, would x be the position of its left or right side?. x-center i assume it's the center of the actor. I have no idea what x (on screen) is.

Chit-Chat / Snes sounds and such?

I was wondering if anyone knows about the legality of using snes sounds, like a tremor sounds or a sword slash from Chrono Trigger, in a game to be uploaded to sites like Kongregate and monetized.

Ask a Question / Angle of movement value
« on: November 21, 2012, 10:27:35 pm »
Is there any block or procedure that gives me the value of the angle that a moving actor is following? I had to make it so that the actor pointed to where it was going, then get the value of at what angle was the actor pointing.

Well, if i interpret the blocks correctly (i'm also new), the "set volume" control is universal, it applies to all sounds, so when playing your sound effect you should use the "Play sound on Channel "0" " to play that sound in that specific channel, and adjust the volume with the "set volume to "0"% for channel "0" ". Then it should affect only that sound.  :)
