Resolved Questions / Re: Text won't appear in scene.

Try changing it to (0, 0) for the (x, y) and see if it works. Maybe the scene dimensions are messing with it, and (0, 0) would be a safe option I would think to verify that the code works to some capacity.

What behaviors does he have attached to him?

Which game are you talking about? As far as I was concerned, none of the platforming example games have much in the way of slopes. Could you post an example of such code please?

Edit: Found it. You meant the starter platformer kit.

Are you talking about behavioral attributes and how to make them? If so, in the behavior editing menu, in the lower-right of the screen there should be three tabs: Palette, Attributes, and Favorites. Click Attributes and at the top there should be an "Add Attribute" button.

More specifically, if we are talking about what type of attribute they are supposed to be, "On Ground" and "Facing Right" would be examples of boolean attributes (that is, their values are true or false).

Hopefully that answered your question.

I have been tinkering around with different codes and messing with pre-shipped behaviors to try and get what I am looking for, but it seems a bit trickier than it seems. So:

1. What is the best way to have a player transition from running up a slope to running on flat ground without having them jump up at the end of the incline (i.e. as if they were riding off a ramp)?
2. If I set friction to 0 for my player, this prevents sticking to a wall, but likewise, he has a tendency to then slide on slopes when not moving. If I turn the friction up even a little, he starts sticking to the wall. What is an appropriate remedy to this?

Chit-Chat / Photon Approaches

That is, a new Stencyl user, not like the actual light particle... unless perhaps if you live somewhere on the surface of Earth, in which case chances are an actual photon might be approaching you anyhow... but...

I found out about Stencyl through Ludum Dare. While getting into one of the submitted games I discovered it indicated Stencyl was used and considering the moderately polished quality of the game (made in the 48 hour time span of the competition, no less), I decided to check this out. So far, I must say Stencyl looks like an incredible piece of game software with A LOT of flexibility. I can program in Python and C++ (not necessarily games through for the latter), but I am thinking Stencyl might be an excellent way to make games, especially since it appears so heavily anchored in programming logic to begin with.

Hopefully I can learn how to use this powerful game software effectively!
