What the whaaaaaaaaaaaat

If bandwidth caps are that commonplace, why have I never heard of them? @_@  I mean, I'm totally aware that that's ignorance on my part.  But what I'm saying is that the casual Internet user has no idea what any of this is.  Slapping outrageous prices on things that aren't common knowledge to the consumer is a completely bogus way to make money.

It's like saying that, as a customer in a store, you're allowed to enter the store and browse all you like but if you take more than 1000 steps we're going to add $10 per additional step on your receipt when you go to pay for your stuff.

Also I just wanna say that the Centaur text made me chuckle delightedly, as did Winzenhamer's comment about these disappointing graphics outside.

Hey thanks Duckaiser!  It's about to be made cuter.  Just as soon as I translate the new layout into a Wordpress-able state. @_@

And ouch, Winzen. D:  What exactly is a bandwidth cap?  A friend of mine on MSN was talking about that, too.  The way he was describing it sounded like some kind of parental control over his Internet access.  Is there any point to it besides that? @_@

This all sounds way too similar to what I've been spending the past two weeks doing.

I've been playing with HTML since I was 12, but only now am I learning how to do it "for real" - by which I mean integrating CSS and HTML together in a way that wouldn't make a real Web developer laugh at me for my noobiness.  Notepad has been my site builder for the past 10 years but I recently graduated to Notepad++.

(For sake of reference, my current site was done in Notepad using my "lazy HTML," i.e. whatever makes sense to me at the time of me creating it, not professional at all. u_u)

So the past two weeks have involved me force-learning harder CSS stuff and also force-learning PHP, which is necessary for making a Wordpress-compatible layout.  It's taken me this long to discover that the tutorial I'm using is kind of dated and some of the codes don't actually work.  Does anyone have a good link to a tutorial on making Wordpress layouts?

AND FINALLY:  I love the site design, Rhys, it is simple and sleek and rad.  Manuel's business card is also rad.

But no.  No, actually, the real reason is because every other time I try to draw a bloody fucking line too 'fast' (as in normal drawing speed) half the line comes out ram-rod straight!  Some weird fucked up glitch that my dad and I could never figure out, rendering all drawing capabilities impossible because I'll have to undo every other stroke, and THAT'S NOT HOW DRAWING WORKS, OKAY?
Oh!  I remember getting errors like that!  It would only occur in some drawing software, but not all of them, which I thought was weird, so I went about toggling settings.

Here are some things to try:

Somewhere in Control Panel, look for "Pen and Input Devices".  I'm using Vista and the window that shows up looks like this.  Click that "Press and Hold" option (just like I did in my screen capture) and click Settings.  Uncheck the box that says "Enable press and hold for right-clicking".  Hit OK on that window and OK again on the main window, then load up your art software and see if your lines turn out better. o3o

The reason I think this works is because when that press-and-hold-for-right-click nonsense is enabled, your computer lags for a split second every time you touch the pen to the tablet as it checks to see if it's being held in place with intent to open a right-click menu.  That's why straight lines show up instead of ones following the curve you're drawing.

Some art software has more pressure sensitivity options than others.  Corel Painter has an easily accessible one where you just draw a squiggle in a box and it adjusts itself automatically depending on how fast your hand moves and how hard you touch the pen to the surface.  Paint Tool Sai is frickin' amazing, I have never in my life encountered laggy lines with it, but even if I did I know that at the very top of the screen is a "Stabilizer" drop-down option, and it's just a matter of changing the number in there.

I've never liked any Adobe software for drawing in.  It's laggy no matter how tiny my canvas is or how slowly I draw.  Sai is my automatic go-to when it comes to digital art, I highly recommend it if you haven't tried that one.
