Hello all!

It's been quite some time since I've last released a video game. So with that being said I'm excited to announce my latest video game:
Jetpack Boi

Jetpack Boi began life as a capstone project for my digital arts minor at Southern Oregon University. I was given the opportunity to choose what I wanted to do, and though I'm focusing more in the web development aspect with the minor, I felt building a video game would not only be an easy A, but would be nostalgic and therapeutic given how rough my life from 17 - 21 was.


And I was right. I earned my A, but more importantly having the mental and financial ability to dabble back in an old hobby I pursued as a kid was fulfilling. I want to emphasize I don't believe Jetpack Boi is anything special gameplay wise, but for me personally, Jetpack Boi is special in other ways.


Anyways, with that being said Jetpack Boi will be available on iOS August 7th. I hope all who play will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed working on it.

Extensions / Taptic Feedback iOS

  I've created an extension for an upcoming game of mine I'm sharing here.

Impact Feedback with styles: Light, Medium, and Heavy
Perfect for collisions involving characters and such


Selection Feedback
Great for sliders of sorts or certain buttons, Apple emphasizes not spamming taptics.


Great idea to view their human guidlines for haptics!

Ask a Question / Multi touch crashes iOS in 4.0

Enabling multitouch in iOS and using the touch event blocks crashes iOS upon startup, can't get past the splash screen.


Game compiles fine.

Extensions / Change Audio Pitch [V 1.0]

This is an extension I requested over half a year ago. Letmethink figured out how to use the pitch property and sent me a zip.


I've updated it. It works pretty well -- I'm using it to enhance a slow motion effect. But you could use it for more!


Here's the blocks, they're pretty easy to use. 1 is normal, .9 .8 .7 .6 .5 etc bring the pitch down and 1.1 1.2 1.3 etc bring it up.


**Note** You can only change the pitch of sounds that are currently playing. To change the pitch of a new sound, you must play the new sound and then change the pitch using the channel block.

Chit-Chat / Concerns about official Stencyl activity

I'm gonna be straight up -- the lack of official Stencyl interactivity has me and a few others feeling like Stencyl is dead.

As of right now it looks like Justin and Robin are the only two people who are keeping Stencyl alive.  I rarely see Jon around anymore and the most exciting things I ever see anymore are when Colin and Folmer launch a new game. The fact that the community is keeping the engine and community alive while the CEO seems to sit and rake in profit shows to me that this train is on a fast track to failure.

Honestly Jon if this is the case why not sell Stencyl to an individual or company who can keep this ecosystem alive? There's a lot of great developers out here who rely on this toolset and community to produce impressive content. If you want to move on, at least give this project of yours a lasting chance.

I may be totally off base with this comment, I mean no offence. Just stating that I'm frustrated with the lack of interactivity and action going on around here.

Journals / Don't Fail! -- A Redo of Worp

Hey everyone! It's been awhile since I've opened a new thread here!


Over a year ago I released Worp; an action/arcade dodgeball game with spaceships. After that I went dark, fell into some dark pits in life, started attending college, etc etc. It took a while to find passion to work on games, I was pretty much burnt out on everything. But one day Colin (Colburt) messaged me about Worp, and I got around to playing it after a year of ignoring it and realized how much better I could do! So thus began a very long process of balancing life and working on Don't Fail! My latest game, largely based off it's older brother with enough differences to be it's own game!


I expect this game to be out before the year is over, hopefully before school starts back up. But we'll see, I'm in no rush -- just along for the ride.


I'll be posting here as I go! Stay Tuned!

Ask a Question / How to create a radial gradient programmatically

So I'm working on a small project and I've come across a little challenge, I need to create a radial gradient background in my scene with a radius that adjusts in size.


Has anyone tried this? I figured I might translate an AS3 article to Openfl but there might be an easier way?

Hey all,
A bit late posting this but 'Worp' has been out for like what? 3 days? Anyways it's out for iOS and I *might* port to Android, but it's seemingly unlikely.
Anyways, this is probably my top favorite game I've ever made. Really enjoyed all the problem solving, figuring out how to do collisions on the inside of a circle, finding out adjusting radius and movement, creating the game all in 1 scene, the mulit-iAP ad removal, etc. It was a blast and I'm proud of it.

The current version (1.0) is really hard as most players feel, I'm working on an update that better manages the difficulty and really hope to get that out soon.

Some stats:

The iAP 'Choose your price' is something I highly recommend. As Carter Dotson of Touch Arcade pointed out, giving a player the option to pay more for a game they enjoy has no real downside. Here are some stats over 3 days.

Tier 3 iAP ($2.99) total purchases: 2

Since the game isn't very popular I haven't made a fortune off the game with ads. Maybe around $10-$20. The game cost me over $900 to develop.

Can one of the mods update the extension market for extensions?


Admob is faulty on Android and Google has removed an admob specific SDK and merged it with Google Play Services.


Vungle is broken, apparently it doesn't even work on Android anymore and OpenFl doesn't support .bundle or .embeddedframework files so I can't bring iOS support to it.


I'm unsure where Revmob is at currently. I think it might still work on iOS but I don't know about Android. For the most part I think it's broken. I'd at least mark it as a WIP incase someone brings it back to life.


I don't think local notifications and alerts work anymore. I tried using it and it just crashed my game everytime I called it.

Ad Colony now fully supports iOS and Android.


There's a Facebook Audience Network extension from Robin. I think he's also working on two new extensions as well but I don't know where he's at with that.


Also I would like to suggest an "extensions" button on the grey navigation bar up there between 'help' and 'forums' for easier navigation.

Worp is probably the most fun I've had in making a game. It's also the first time I've felt the game wasn't missing something. The whole concept of the game started as a racing game, the circle didn't adjust, and the cannon was in the center of the screen. After much playing and lot of frustration I felt that the idea needed a lot of improving. So I went back to the drawing board and created 4 pages of sketches and pinned them to my wall. Since then the idea has morphed into what you see now! I hope you enjoy playing Worp as much as I had making it.

Bug Archives / Flash and font problems.

So I can't figure out why fonts do this only in flash.

Basically the font is trimmed on the left side and the font sometimes never shows up at all. This has only happened to me in flash
Any ideas?
