Ask a Question / Upgrade System (Multiples)
« on: June 04, 2019, 04:33:16 am »
So I'm working on an upgrade system and I want players to be able to buy multiple levels at the same time.

For instance either 1, 10, 25 or 100 levels depending if they have enough currency. How on earth do I calculate that?

The cost of items is based upon it's current level (current level X current level X fixed value) So 1 x 1 x 10 = 10, 25 x 25x 10 = 6250.

You need to choose the scale at which your importing your sprites. Instead of 4x select 1x if you're creating your graphics at 100%. Once you've imported one image it'll remember your chosen scale so you don't have to do it each time.

Note you need to set if before you import your sprite.

Yeah, just a box/frame around each bit of text.

Looking good. One thought is than rather than have free-floating text on the left, it should have borders around it. It would be good to give the main game area a border too.

1. The Easy Math extension has blocks to calculate things like that.

2.  The first set X speed and set Y blocks should be in an 'otherwise' block at the end.

To create a basic 8-way behaviour:

If right is down
Set x-speed to 50
Otherwise is left is down
Set x-speed to -50
Set x-speed to 0

If up is down
Set y-speed to -50
Otherwise is down is down
Set y-speed to 50
Set y-speed to 0

But note that this will mean that you move faster when going diagonally. Preventing that will require a slightly more complex approach.

Ask a Question / Re: How to Stop All Enemies of Type Dying At Once

Drag the '2nd actor' block into the 'kill' block.

At the moment the enemies are killed whenever the character hits any enemy, not a specific one.

What do you mean? They've just released version 4.

+  Interlace effect added
+  Sound effects added
+  Failed interaction descriptions updated
+  Spirit orbs added. There's 100 hundred to collect. Many are just free-floating, some are hidden inside objects. Currently, they serve no purpose. Maybe you need a certain amount to reveal certain supernatural things?
+  Got someone working on the music.

You can create and destroy collision shapes as needed. So it's just a case of creating the correct logic. Also, if you used sensor shapes you can check the current frame number.

Ask a Question / HTML5
« on: May 22, 2019, 01:59:54 am »
I've recently started testing in HTML5 and noticed differences between how Flash and HTML5 handle things. Most noticeably issues with text and labels.

In HTML5 positioning is slightly off, line height is really off.  In Flash, when using labels I was able to tint text by tining the actor is was attached to, which was really useful, but doesn't work in HTML5.

Are these things bugs which are going to be fixed, or things I need to work around?

I don't know why flash is working while html5 isn't but I think the issue is that the next question is also reacting the same click as the current one.

So try clearing the current question and wait a second before presenting the next one.

Keeps crashing on Android a few seconds after opening.

EDIT: The music plays and I can see the main screen but after around 3 seconds it just quits.

If you release an OSX version I'll happily test for you. I do have an ancient Windows laptop somewhere I could dig out and try.

Use the Easy Math extension.  It's got blocks to easily calculate things like that.
