Also, the .SWF will not take up 100 MB, that I can guarantee, as the idea is for .SWF's to be on the internet, and it will be next to unplayable if it's that big.

I agree that the swf should be small and it will be small, but I am looking at this the other way round. For instance, If I want to make a game which will be primarily for the pc/mac and then perhaps use a smaller flash version as a demo to promote the game.
The quality and consequently the size of the graphics/sound assets becomes quite large for a PC game because that is what the player wants for casual games these days. So if the .exe build facility in stencyl is going to restrict me to smaller size/low quality games for the PC, it does not serve the purpose.
Correct me if I am wrong, Multimedia Fusion 2 - a similar kind of game making software does allow local builds for PC and a swf and iOS exporter (I would like that kind of thing with stencyl). I have not used Multimedia Fusion 2 and am not sure about the merits/demerits but I have played large size (200MB+) commercially released games for the PC made using that software.

I agree with 1MrPaul1 with his concern regarding large size files. A .exe for PC will be larger size than flash/mobile games and could be well above 100-200MB (average casual PC games size these days). So getting these to the server and downloading 3x is definitely a problem.
It is better to give the option locally.
We have made some games with torque in the past and used PC to compile to .exe and Mac to get a Mac executable(.dmg). Similarly it will be great if you just allow us to choose the platform based on what hardware we are on.

Great to hear about the .exe and mac export options (is the mac export .app or .dmg?). If it is .app, I think it should be possible to get the app on Mac Appstore

Just wanted to know if this is based on Adobe AIR? If so how is the data getting saved?..
is it using shared objects as in Flash or can we write files to the local drive now?

By when will we know the exact pricing?..I guess Flash Pro will have a one-time subscription unlike iStencyl which is annual?

Can we know a bit more about the .exe/.app export
1) Will we be able to test that in 2.0 preview or is it only events for now?
2) Is the .exe export based on flash + AIR?
3) Are these exporting options going to be free?

Right..
AIR 3.0 now allows us to have a captive runtime in the app.
I haven't tried it yet with the swf generated by stencyl.. but this looks like a good option for now.

Any pointers to my other question regarding game saves? Am I right in assuming that the .exe and .app will not use sharedobject to save game data?..If yes where and how it will be saved ?(.txt, .xml?)

@photics : afaik (I may be wrong) the .app created by flash projector is not directly accepted in the Mac Appstore. There are some adjustments that need to be done like removing the PowerPC code, change icon, adjust the plist etc. and all that needs to be done using a Mac.

instead if I had something like istencyl which would generate a .app wherein I would require a MAC just for submission to appstore, that would be nice. Obviously its a personal preference

Also as I mentioned above, if we use flash, the game data that is saved will be in shared object, which in my view is not suited for a desktop application

I have been exploring stencyl for the past 4-5 days and I have to say that I am happy with what I have seen till now.
My company develops games for iOS and Windows and it was great to hear about .app Mac builds for App store submission.

I had a question regarding save game location though.
As I understand stencyl uses shared object to save in game data which is ok for browser games..but what does istencyl do and where is the game data saved?
I believe that the .app publishing using mac will be based on istencyl so will it be possible to save game data in the game folder and not the macromedia/sharedobjects folder where it may get removed when the user clears cookies by ccleaner or similar.

I hope publishing a .exe is made possible as soon as possible...perhaps by using Adobe AIR?

Is it possible to use swf made with stencyl to compile desktop executable application (.exe/.dmg) by using converters like MDM zinc.
Is the API for MDM zinc supported which will allow extending AS3 for specific use like saving to desktop, loading local database etc.
