This is important now to help us reduce filesize since we export both 32-bit and 64-bit code now when publishing for Android.

Can you put this on top of your to do list?

Games can now easily go over 100mb and publication with Android Studio not always works.
Moreover Google is slowly forcing everyone to use .aab instead of apk even if the app is under 100mb.

Thanks

Thank you for this, Justin. However, to upload an .aab it's required to use Google Play App Signing. That means create and upload an encrypted key and use it to sign the app. I tried to had a look at the documentation (https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/7384423) but I'm quite lost. And I'm still not sure that if I succeed in creating the new key  than Stencyl can sign the app with it. Can you have a look and guide me a bit? Thanks

Publishing to android now outputs an app bundle instead of an apk in b10456.

I have version 4.0.2 (b10468) and when I publish my game to Android it generates a .apk. I don´t see any .aab.  Please help me out here. I´ve got to this point of development. Just about being ready to publish a game it took me a lot of time, I´ve paid for the subscription and I am not able to publish to  Android. This is very dissappointing .

Since you are a subscriber, download private build 10519 and you should be able to publish as an .abb

See the attached logs. Once I´ve downloaded version 10519 and created the bundle I am having what appears to be signing issues. Probably related to what FMStudioGameDev was mentioning earlier in the thread. No clue.

Hi pjeanmaire ! Maybe publish a post on the forum with you problem ( as it's not the same).
PS : were you able to publish a signed version of an apk ?

yes, running app in debug mode (which generates an apk) works fine

The signing issues were taken care of in #1720: Android Keystore Generator not making usable keystores. As of build 10561, it's possible to choose either .aab or .apk when publish an Android game.

Uploading the resulting .aab to Google is a pretty straightforward process. If there are questions about that, that can be opened as a new  documentation issue.

If there's interest in the use of an "upload key" as well, that should also be filed under a separate issue.
