Bug Issue: Terrible performance (15fps) and entire layer disappears in latest build 9468

I upgraded to the latest build (9468) and my fps immediately went from 60 fps in build 9179 down to ~15 fps in the new build. This is in Cppia. Also, when my player takes damage, the entire layer he's on disappears completely. Turning on debug draw (pressing W) makes the entire screen go black. Memory usage claims in excess of 1.25 GB, but the combined atlases for this scene total only 391 MB, so something is definitely going on there. Nothing appears in the log viewer as any kind of an error or warning message. I've attached logs, but as this is Cppia, I'm not sure how helpful that's going to be.  (Also, I rebuilt the Cppia host prior to compiling the game.) Running in Flash is not an option, as I have sprite sheets far too large for Flash and finding them and reducing them to run in Flash takes days.

I can send the game privately if that will help resolve the issue quickly.

Performance is better now than when this issue was posted, but there are still issues.

According to some discussion on discord, it seems to be caused by:
- minimal actors layered on top of each other
- semi-transparent actors

Also, while actor effects don't erase the whole layer, they do seem to erase the actors themselves. An issue which I thought I'd taken care of before, but it seems to be back again.

Performance issues at this point are mostly out of our hands, so we'll hopefully continue to see improvements as we update third party libs, but I'm not going to hold us back from releasing over that.
