StencylForge is down for maintenance (back up, for now)

I see no indication that gellet didn't read Jon's post.

I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting a word about how things are going with the forge, and if things are still on track. Jon said hopefully within the week. It's been 5 days, why not check in?

The only update I can offer is that taking StencylForge offline, combined with some server tuning, has dramatically improved the site's stability. Unfortunately, this suggests that StencylForge is a huge reason why the site was going down so much (why this is is still being looked at), and going forward, we'll need to make some changes to combat that.

Again, I ask for your patience and understanding in this. Nobody wants a site down half the time, and as we discover more, StencylForge will inevitably require further work bring it under control.

So THAT'S why the forums keep shooting in and out? I've been wondering about that for awhile. Glad to hear that we're getting it fixed! 8)

It'd be interesting to hear why Stencylforge was causing that though, if you guys manage to figure it out.

Can someone tell me when StencylForge will be up ?
Did you even bother to read Jon's post? -_-

I agree, he should read the actual post. But then again, he probably paid a few hundred bucks to get a game dev app, and one of its main features doesn't work. It was frustrating enough for me, and I didn't even buy it yet! But, it will probably be up in a day or two

Given that the server has historically seen downtime in the early morning, I'm going to wait a day more to collect more data before it goes up.

It's gone down briefly just once in the past 3 days (this morning), so I'd like to see if that pattern repeats. Regardless of what happens, it will return sometime later on Friday.

There is no need to rush, the main aim of stencyl is the create mode...
When it comes to the Stencyl Forge, it could be hosted on a different VPS (another account) so the website and the forge wouldn't affect eachother. On the other hand, it would rise the servers costs. I can imagine that the arcade section has got inpact on the server performance too.
So it is better to wait 1 or 2 days more to have working website and forge than both down.

I'd love to pull it off to a separate server and would have a long time ago, but the way our server is currently setup makes that a really messy and risky proposition. I've thought of alternate scenarios, like pulling the forums and static portions of the site off but couldn't for the same reason.

I don't really understand the comotion about the fact the forge is down for a while. The longer it takes, the more progress there is being made. I cannot think of any reason to be that much dependent on the forge, like everything you must have for your game is uploaded there. I've been working for nearly a year with Stencyl and actually just needed the forge twice a month. There will be plenty of other things you can do without the forge, so if you have some, do it now. Use your time wisely.

But something else I was wondering. Is this update part of V3?
