Introducing, Greenie a short 'fun' platformer.

In greenie you play as, well, a green guy. Enjoy short platformer level while collecting fruit (10 types currently available)

It is early in development so far but here are a few screenshots.

Any views on the art styl or maybe even praise would be nice.

I like the overall art. The little green guy seems a little misshapen, but then I have no clue what he is supposed to be. Looks overall pretty good

Not a whole lot to write home about right now. The graphics looks clean and pretty (though I'm not so sure about the shading on the strawberries), but otherwise I can't ascertain too much. I'm mildly leery that it looks like your typical run-of-the-mill platformer, but on one hand that's OK if you are still trying to get comfortable with game design. But like I said, can't say much right now based on what's been supplied.

Photon, at the moment it is going to be a 'run off th mill' platformer, however that is delibrate as I know that somewhere along the initial design and art creation of the game I will come up with a good idea.

Also, now the player is animated and you can now test the animations.

Play the animation test here; http://www.stencyl.com/game/play/21380

The shading on the doors (and the strawberries still) looks weird. Otherwise, nice!

It will probably est. 2 months or so, just whenever I have free time.

Also I demoed a level select.

It will probably change loads before the actual release though.

Also, Photon, there's no need to go on about the strawberries in this pic; I will change it.

Bear in mind I'm not trying to be a jerk.  ;)

In all sincerity, the game is coming along very nicely.  8)

I probably should have put a ':P' in the last post, don't worry, I never thought you were a jerk.

Well. I reckon it is time to introduce the key mechanic. Phase

This mechanic allows you to pass through certain objects when you 'phase'.

For example, say you were in this picture:

THe phase block art is completely prototype-y and does not represent at all what will be in the actual game

and you wanted to get the strawberry, all you would need to do would be to press a certain key and then you could pass through that object to get the strawberry, another tap of the key would turn the wall back solid.

But, there is more, say all the ground around you is blue and there is a blue wall like so:

You would have to jump as you phase so you don't fall through the floor.

However this is when it gets really interesting:

Here you would have to unphase while in the wall to make the outside solid. Thos would allow you to jump on the missing bloack space and get the fruit by phasing again at the top.

Oh... This seems to have turned into a puzzle platformer.

Oh... This seems to have turned into a puzzle platformer.

What is so bad about puzzle platformers?

I think he meant it more as an observation than a statement of concern. I could be wrong though.

You're right.

I have had a quick go at implementing the mechanic, would be a lot easier if you could have two different collision groups for tiles but here it is at the moment.

I didn't get much done, it's friday after all.
However, I do have something to show. I have these rather nice looking GUI buttons:

Yellow isn't actually in game
