Looking for partners in Mobile Game development.

First I would like to say hello to all the other developers out there! I have been an avid gamer from the TSR-80 and Apple IIC days grew up on the Commodore 64 and still enjoy playing games to this day at a ripe old age of 42!

Recently I have begun to explore the idea of working on game development. I have been using Stencyl and Game Maker Studio and have begun work on my first project using Stencyl. I have the core concept/title screen, game and scoring system in place it's completely playable in it's current form. However I am not advanced enough to see this through entirely myself. I am looking for someone experienced with Stencyl and mobile game development to help steer the ship and clean up any loose ends I have with my coding.

I am sure a million people come here asking for free help, and everyone has visions of grandeur about their games, but I have always wanted to make a game, and now with the help of my 11 year old son we are on the verge of actually accomplishing it.  The Goal is to get this on iOS first and than Android as a free app with ad's.

I would be willing to partner with someone who is serious and would be willing to work out a payment  system that would be acceptable to both of based on revenue. If anyone is interested and working together please let me know and hopefully we can work something out! For this first project I just need some finishing touches and porting help!

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and good luck to all you developers out there trying to make your dreams come true!

I did really like your approach / story.
Specially because I did imagine you and your son creating it together. Great dad you are!!!

I really would like to help you accomplish your goal, but I am on the final stages of launching my first game demo.

If I do launch it - soon - and at that time you be still looking for help I will gladly help you.

cheers.

Thanks gfalcaor for the post! Yes what I really need is a mentor someone I can show the game to and help me fix a few things or say do this and let me continue to tweak it. I might need additional help with some other parts as well.

I have always been a gamer, and my some wants to learn so were doing this together. However he seems to worry about things not important at this point. We need a logo, we need a webpage etc.. I told him to relax I need to get the game complete before that stuff lol..

Any time help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I see...
But "marketing" is also very important.
I also need to create mine (site, logo...).

Please do PM me. Maybe I can help you with some minor tweaks.

Im good on webpage development I have created a few myself over the years :) What I am looking for is someone who has already published an iOS game that can be a mentor to how to do it correctly, and what tweaks and changes I would need to make.

I would also love some feedback from others prior to that but scared to put anything up as someone could take it and release it as theirs while I am figuring things out.. How do you guys handle these things?

What i would do is release only the snipet of code that is messed up.
Also, though I have never released a game for iOS, I do know how to do it.

Hello Ggiersdorf,

Fellow old-timer here! (48)
What is the reason that you don't publish yourself?
Stencyl is a design once, publish anywhere kind of solution. Granted, you need to realize stuff during designing of your game (like device-scales)
I know that it is kind of an investment to buy Stencyl, iOS developer and Google Play subscriptions, but if you ARE serious then that should not be a problem!

You don't have to publish directly to the crowd and can test (ad-hoc) with an iOS device before publishing to the world.
Learning from mistakes can be a road with frustration, but a more solid basis for the future. (IMO)

All that aside I hope you will find your mentor!

Good luck and best regards from
M.E.
Proud member of the League of Idiotic Stencylers! Doing things in Stencyl that probably shouldn't be done.

Finally, I don't feel alone any more. I am also an from the 70s, so another 44 year old dev here. We should create our own sub-board here "Almost retired, but still alive" :-)

(@GGiesdorf: is't only an educated guess, but are you german or german based?)
Sure, my games won't get better with all the new features of Stencyl.
But I do have more fun creating bad ones.

Lol...
I am from the 70s also. But not on my 40s.
I am still a 37 years old teenager... if you know what I mean.

Funny how us "teens" don't heal as well, and seem to lose energy faster than my my drips to the bathroom after dinner.. :) Anyway wanted to hello to all the others out there. No I'm not in Germany German decent yes, spent two years living in Germany however.

Anyway I am making some good headway with my game, core engine is done working on some tweaks to the gameplay and getting new graphics to improve the look and commercial appeal of the game.

I do however have some questions if anyone can help me answer them. If I am going to form a sudo company as I dont want to list my games on the appStore under my personal account name what are the steps I need to do for this. I assume if it makes money it would need a real legal registered name?  what or where can I find the information for this?

Thanks..
Glenn

Hey mate.
It's kind of expensive to register your brand.
Couple of hundred dollars per year.

But it's necessary when going commercial.

Some links for you to read:

Cheers
