Creating Visual Novels

Hi, I'm trying to make a visual novel, but I haven't found a good game builder for one yet. I really liked Stencyl as it seemed easiest to use and I tried modifying a template from StencylForge, but there wasn't much support for visual novels back when I used 2.0.
How would I go about creating a visual novel in 3.1? Thank you.

Haven't checked lately, but isn't there an example game on Stencyl Forge with that features a book?

The visual novel mechanics are simple itself, so there's not much of a problem to make one on stencyl.

Just in case you haven't checked these out already:

It is definetly possible to create a visual novel in stencyl, however I think if you create a large story, it might not be as comfortable as other tools since you would need to take care of organizing the text and the scenes all by yourself. But there is an extension for stencyl that offers RPG like dialogue which could be a good starting point:

I agree here. It is definitly possible with Stencyl, but twinery, Inform or Ren'py might better suit your needs.
Sure, my games won't get better with all the new features of Stencyl.
But I do have more fun creating bad ones.

Thank you guys. I have seen Ren'py before, but I don't think it can publish to flash. The extra work needed to be done in Stencyl might be worth it in order to get exposure on flash sites like Newgrounds. I've tried researching Twinery and Inform, but I'm unsure if they publish to flash either.

Twinery exports plain HTML, Inform uses a player.
