You need to pay Apple $99 a year USD and Android $25 one time fee to publish on their platforms.

Welcome to mobile development, it's a bit expensive :|

So that's

- $199 (Stencyl License) (Can I get the $150 edition since I am a student from Belgium?)
- $25 for android publishing
- $99 for Apple publishing

So thats $323 USD for a year or $274 in case of the student edition.

I had a total starting investment of 175 dollars. I publish JUST to android and I got the student discount.

The stencyl license is to be able to publish to the mobile devices (ios and android) The $99 and $25 is to pay apple and google for a developer account to publish your app on their market. Without paying the $99 and $25 you can still export your app for ios and android but you cannot publish it on the app store or play store.

ps: I think you just need to send a picture of your school identification to prove you are a student.

Yeah I sent a pic of my school ID.

Like I said, mobile development can get real expensive, real quick. I'm at around $1000+ so far...

Just to clarify the issue of licence fees...

The free version of Stencyl allows you to create and test your game on an Android or iOS device. BUT you cannot test a game on an iOS device without paying Apple the $99 developer licence fee. You can test on an Android device without any costs at all.

If you want to publish your game to the Apple App Store, you must have paid the $99 to Apple. If you want to publish to Google Play store, you must pay Google their licence fee (I think it's still $25).

As far as I am aware, the only way you can get your own iOS app to run on a device without paying Apple, is to use a jailbroken device. For the record, I have created an XCode app and installed it on my own jailbroken iOS devices, without having an Apple developer license. I guess this should be possible with a Stencyl-generated iOS game, but I haven't tried it. Presumably you would first need to export the Stencyl project as an XCode project (I'm pretty sure this requires a Stencyl subscription).
