I have decided I fancy hosting a little informal mini jam in a couple of weeks. Its a mechanics jam so will be purely based on mechanics, not art or sounds.

Its going to be very informal but there will be one "rule" that will be announced the day before the Jam starts.

Since I will be judging the jam the games need to be flash or html5 since I don't have a windows machine.

prizes will be $100 to first place, $50 to second, $30 to third. Paid Via paypal.

Im hoping it will encourage people to try some new weird an wonderful prototypes, I'm interested to see how removing any focus on art will effect the type of games produced.

I love prototyping. I've been thinking about ways to prototype Fallout Shelter in Stencyl. This will give me an excuse to try it out :)

Or I had another idea of creating infinite (well maybe not infinite) shadow clones in a puzzle -platformer.

I do not need much of a reason to test some wacky prototypes.

Don't forget about the "rule" ;)  it might throw a bit of a curveball at you.

@ceosol, out of curiosity, what do you mean by "infinite shadow clones"?

+1 I'm in! I like the curveball! Can it be something we've been working on previously?  I've started a lot of small things that aren't close to being finished yet

Yeah ill allow that, if you can make it fit with the "rule". However as its a mechanics jam, a single screen tech demo has just as much chance to win as a 10 level game etc. Im not expecting to see real games like in other jams, more concepts or mechanics that could maybe be part of a game in the future etc.

@ceosol, out of curiosity, what do you mean by "infinite shadow clones"?

Say you move right to jump on a platform but it is too high. Rewind to before you were jumping and a clone will appear going along your previous path. You can then jump on your clone that is attempting the jump. But say this jump still isn't high enough, rewind a little bit more and a new clone pops out, jumping on the first clone. Then you have two clones that you can use. Keep rewinding and you could fill the screen with clones.

The first thing you might think is that the game framerate would drop to zero. This may be true. What I would like to prototype is passing the clone instructions to each individual having them running autonomously. This should decrease the  amount of resources required to keep track.

I think we will just keep it local, just hosted on stencyl, I'll make a separate thread for people to post projects.

Soon ya, little mechanics jam, lets do this.

So the only rule is, the game/demo must contain at least 1 joint. Bonus points given to those who use the joint extension.
