Behavior Icon Request: Mouse Follow

I just posted about a new Behavior I created called Mouse Follow.

Would anyone be willing to create an icon for it? It doesn't have to be anything extraoridinary - just something to communicate that it allows an Actor to follow a mouse cursor.

Maybe something like a mouse or mouse cursor with some trailing lines to indicate motion? Or some sort of graphic or character chasing after a mouse cursor? I'm open to ideas.

That's great, jdkilby. However, there is already an actor follow mouse behavior on featured  list. I would let someone chime in on the icon creation itself.

It would be nice if you can also look at the Forge behavior feature list and see what's there and what you can add to the list in the future. I believe there are lots of opportunities there.

Welcome to stencyl, btw.

I assume you are talking about the behavior "Move Toward Mouse"?

If so, there are two key differences in my Behavior versus that one:

1) "Mouse Follow" puts a bit of "lag" on the animation so that it has a "catch-up effect" (it slows down as it reaches the destination, the mouse cursor). "Move Toward Mouse" uses a constant speed.

2) "Mouse Toward Mouse" rotates the Actor; "Mouse Follow" does not.

Perhaps I need a better name to make the difference clear?

Anyways, I built this for a game prototype I'm making - I didn't set out specifically to create this behavior. I figure it's better to share than to keep all the code locked away in the archives, right? :)

Yeah, your behavior is sufficiently different from Move Toward Mouse. Name-wise, "Follow Mouse" may be a better name to keep with the standard of making behaviors map to verbs/actions.

Hopefully, someone from the team will see this and make an icon for you. I can design sites and make beautiful UI's but for the life of me, can't draw an icon from scratch. :)

I tried it out and it worked squeaky clean. Very nicely done

@jon, there are already several high quality behavior like this (plus one on 8-way movement earlier) that we should think about promoting to featured list. What do you think?

As curators, that's Cory and Greg's call to make.

@Greg/Irock, do we have any guidelines in moving some of the user generated behavior to the stencyl featured list? We are stuck at a count of 20-30 for a while and I can see people needing more quality behaviors that are proven.

I've whipped up a 48x48 png image based on my really limited graphics editing skill. See if you like it.

Thanks, Rob! The link doesn't work for me though (I get a 403 forbidden error).

Hey Rob,

Sorry for disappearing on you - it's been a busy month for me!

That's perfect. I updated it on the Forge. Thanks for the graphic!

Great to see you back. I always wondered whether you are going to be around after making that behavior.

Any plans for a stencyl game?

I'd still like to finish the prototype I started way back when... hope to find some time soon to do that.

Sometimes first game does not need to be fancy. Just get the tool and mechanics down and go from there.

Keep in touch with us.

You should put [Found, Please Remove] or something like that to the title so Stencyl knows to put it in the resolved folder.

Hope this helps,
