The migration to OpenFL has gone quicker and smoother than expected. I will be sending out a preliminary beta release for customers to vet this weekend.
As scheduled, a beta of the OpenFL-based Stencyl went out to customers on Saturday. They are now checking it out. I think we'll have a clear picture this coming week of what the impact will be.
My assessment is that when the basics are resolved and we all feel good about this new OpenFL-based branch, I'd be comfortable with issuing a public beta of 3.0, even if there are still some niggling issues. So far, it's looking promising.
A major memory leak in 3.0 has finally been stopped, and it was related to the actors and the tweening library. There are still issues to work out with OpenFL, a few of them being third party problems, so there won't be a public release just yet.
