Yup, Colorado and Washington became the first states to end marijuana prohibition.  I wonder how the federal government will react, considering it's still illegal on the federal level.  Also, Puerto Rico voted to become a state, which I think requires approval from Congress.  We might have to replace a lot of American flags :P

Yeah, the feds still raid medical marijuana dispensaries in places where medical marijuana is legal, so unfortunately I don't see why this would be any different. ::)

What idiots even voted for the legalization of marijuana?
Colorado has good snowboarding, but I think I'd rather go to some other state, rather than be stabbed by some kiddiewink smoking.

Since making something illegal doesn't make it go away, drugs are sold in a black market. Black markets have no legal protection, so gangs step in and protect their interests through violence.

It used to be the same way when alcohol was prohibited. The end of alcohol prohibition unsurprisingly resulted in a decrease in violence since there was no longer a reason for gangs to be involved (stuff like this is why we take history in school).

Ending the war on drugs will only decrease violence.

Also, marijuana doesn't cause people to become violent you dum.

Marijuana doesn't cause stabbing.  I don't know where you get your news from, but please change your sources because they're terrible.  Besides, alcohol is worse than marijuana, so following your logic you should never go outside again for risk of being "stabbed by some kiddiewink".

Do you really think that prohibition stops anyone from doing drugs?
The War on Drugs failed for the last 50 years. I think the time is right to try a new approach on the global drug problem, and that is exactly what happens here.

Time will tell whether legalization is a positive or negative thing.

Time already told us around 80 years ago.

Marijuana shouldn't be leagalized to a certain extent. It should have the same age as alchohal, be restricted in public buildings like cigarettes and have a tax. Only because if weed is in general just legalized then kids will stop smoking weed and move onto something like there dogs shit just to be "cool" also if we tax, then it would help our country/states. This is just my opinion though.

The reason smoking isn't allowed in public places in some parts of the country is because of the health risks associated with passive smoking. Marijuana, on the other hand, is completely safe to both the user and surrounding people.

Right, because getting high cannot cause one to become a violent, blundering buffoon. I think your sources - if you have any drug-free sources - must be terrible if you suggest that drugs of any kind do not encourage violence through their use.

Besides that, is there a tax on marijuana, and does this law allow for individual dealers to sell drugs, or for them to be sold in establishment such as a Wallgreens or CVS Pharmacy.

If it's smoked, it's harmful to all people, since smoke has been proven to damage organs. If it's taken through any other method, it will just harm the user of the marijauna. http://www.health.harvard.edu/press_releases/understanding-marijuanas-risks-to-the-brain

So where's the part about stabbing people in that article

That was just a source to refute the second quote. I don't think I even need a source to prove that drugs cause people to become more violent. Go smoke a few ounces right now with some druggies and see if you have bruises from a fight.
