Posting in here again as a reminder that the game's still alive and making progress. Without showing off too much I will say I've managed to do some interesting things with the game's 'engine', slowly but surely the demo's coming together. I can also mention that Irock is making the soundtrack for the game. Sorry for the long wait, here's a screenshot of the bottom half of one of the first levels to hold you over.

But I do have to ask one question. On the bottom right, is that spikes, grass, or both?

Harmless grass. I imagine the player isn't threatened by it here because they pass it in a level with no hazards in it just prior to this one.
