Role-Playing Card Game

A couple of years ago, I tried my attempt at designing a card game. I designed a collection of around 30 or so cards, and I gave some to my friends to play with me. We had some fun. (although there weren't many printed, so there weren't long games.) They were pleased with my card game.

However, that was around the same time where card games stopped being a fad, so the game faded away.

My idea is to recreate the game using Stencyl to create a simulator. I'd like to include social features into the game to allow for challenging opponents online or challenging friends. This game could also serve as a good test of a virtual goods system by letting users buy cards from a virtual shop.

Unfortunately, I don't have any sample cards to show you, as they are on an external drive that I'll need to find.

I love this kind of games!
Tell me about how it worked(rules of the game, etc):D
I've always dreamt to do something like a card game :)

I don't remember the rules exactly, but there are monster cards and supporter cards. Each monster card has an attack, defense, hit point and speed stat.

Each turn, the first move goes to the player with the fastest monster. Each player gets to move monsters from four rows (back, middle, front, and frontline defense) and attack. There can only be as many actions as there are monsters on the field.

When a monster is attacked, their damage is calculated by the attack divided by the stat and rounded up to the nearest hit point (where a hit point is the defense divided by the number of hit points). When there are no hit points left, the monster dies.

Most attacks are melee, but supporter cards allow monsters to attack at range, hitting monsters in farther back rows.

The game continues until one side has no monsters left.

So battles are set like in a 8x8 grid and cards are like tokens.
Every monster has his turn and can move.
Supporter cards can be used to improve or heal monsters.

Amazing!
My brain has already imagined epic battles!
With the computer you can do animations instead of cards.
Creature would have a mouse over panel which explain creature's stats.
On the right side a GUI which shows support cards avaible.

The game should be single player until has got at least 200 cards or players will complain :P
If this game manage to get success in single player will be easy to get a sponsor for servers and so multiplayer!

This seems like a good idea. Make a Stencyl Resource pack for it. If you did it in regular Flash, it would take forever to program all combinations separatley :S

Two hundred cards seems like a lot, but I suppose it may be possible. It will need to be a lot or games will be too short. I'm glad you like the idea. (You too YellowWolf!)

I haven't done any work on it yet, so suggestions are welcome.

That's nice, although the majority of the graphics will be the cards themselves, which I have template on one of my hard drives. The only graphics you could do would be the monster art.

Okay, I found my drive and downloaded the files. I now have all the cards and the templates. As you can tell, the game was made a while ago and the art is not that great.

I'll have to fix the template and use a better font for the item cards.
