3.0 - Build on good PC, local publish on cheap/weak mac?

So I plan on making an IOS game with Stencyl 3.0

I would like to be able to publish locally. I have a good PC. If I've understood the blog this feature is only available on Mac.

If I got a cheap 512 Ram mac mini, could I work in a way that it's weakness wouldn't be a bottleneck for me in testing and production?

I know I need a MAC for uploading, but can I use my PC to create the file that will need to be uploaded, and then simply transfer the file(s) to my mac?

Failing that could I save a .Stencyl file made on my PC, and move it (along with any other necessary files) over to my weak Mac, where the game could be published locally? If so, is the game "building slowly" on the Mac likely to be a problem?

I would really appreciate anyone's help on this. :D

Hello,

I believe that you dont need to buy a mac and that publishing and testing can now be done through some Stencyl Mac servers or something like that, i havent looked too much into it.

EDIT: But i still think you need an iOS Developer license. Lots of i think in here xD.
Above all, try something.

You could use http://www.macincloud.com/ which is a virtual mac on a pc, if thats what your looking for.

To answer you original question, yes you can create and test a game on the pc, then transfer all the files across to the mac to build the final game for ios. I use a pc at home, drop my whole project directory into Dropbox and build it on my work mac.

You can do remote build for ios from the pc, but it's not currently enabled for v3.

The final binary upload to apple HAS to be done via a mac of some kind though.

Out of interest what did you get and how much?  I'm toying with getting a cheap/low spec machine for home - rather than relying on my work mac.

Well i got a used mini with 2gigs of ram, for about $200 out the door. Nothing but a power supply comes with it, but i'm getting an adapter for the monitor, and have a spare keyboard and mouse. I hope it arrives in good working order.

I use a Mac Mini, bought a new one last year in march. It works well, although 2gb ram is worth upgrading but that's cheap(unlike the machine itself haha).

So I have the mini now, and it is running just fine, but I am very concerned. It runs Snow Leopard, and I have found out that Apple does not permit this machine to be upgraded to Mountain Lion, or even to Lion.

I've been very worried, that because the developer SDK requires a newer version of Xcode, which requires a newer version of OSX that this machine would be unable to do what I want to do with it, for Stencyl.

For example I've read that only the newer versions of ios SDK can use Game Center features.

Am I worried about nothing? Does Stencyl's workflow mean that it won't matter for me what version of xcode/sdk I have?

What will be my limitations, if I'm stuck with Snow Leopard?

I did the same thing, just bought a cheap used MacBook running Lion for $230, so that I can get into IOS.  We'll see.  80 GB hard drive, only 1 GB RAM.

Very same problem here. I would like to pubblish an iOS game with my mac mini, but is is not possible for the same reasons you list. The only solution would be to have the remote builder for 3.0, at least on PCs...

Have you tried it? I suppose they have Stencyl 2.2 installed. Would it be come to an extra cost to have 3.0 installed?
