(Community Project Idea) Switching Lessons!

Hi everyone!
I thought of an idea. Why don't we make a group on Skype (or somewhere else where we can talk and show pictures of our screen), and then we at Stencyl (who are some experienced artists, programmers, musicians, level designers and game designers) switch to make a lesson in whatever we want to (about game making). If you don't have any skills yet, you can just watch the lessons without having to offer anything.

Does it sound like a good idea? I could give the first lesson in pixel gradients or something like that.

You know, educators and teachers do that.
So if you want help, you can even ask it to the forums, or to a website (like mine: chris24xd.itch.io/stencyl-teacher ).

This is a good idea, but it needs to be a static resource for newcomers - even if it is only useful links and pointers.

I just realized that the original post in the topic that Chris24XD and joe1234 replied to, from 2020-07-13, was posted by a bot who copied another post on this forum.

Perhaps a little weird, but I decided to just merge the new posts with the original topic from the original poster and delete the bot's post.

Ha ha! Thanks. My experience as an amateur is that you should be an all rounder, and that there are various options and approaches for those of us with limited/no skills. For example, if my pixel art skills had been even slightly better than pitiable I would never have looked at Blender. It ended up saving me a mountain of work.

My focus right now is on getting something, anything, published. I want to get that done first. I would feel stupid contributing too much advice before that.

One quick, technical example. I drew my landscape outline in a vector application, imported it into Blender, adjusted the bevel like you would adjust a font size and so created my stylized river bank.

Then, I set the camera to view in isometric 3D (a bit more technical).

An added bonus is that as my Blender skills improved, I could move any assets I created in front of this camera set up and the perspective and shading would match.
