Is there anything we do as a community to help this Stencyl development along in the most beneficial way? .

One thing I suggest for testing is that if you encounter a bug in 3.0, provide a sample game, steps to reproduce the bug, and logs.  To the non-subscribers, when 3.0 goes public, please check the bug forum before making a bug report is your problem will very likely already have its own thread.

Also I suggest a new thread if you want to talk about this subject further.

Did and done. I put a new topic in suggestions.

I can't tell you what a home run stencyl would be if it has more power/features while still having this amazing workflow and design mode -- which is, in my opinion, completely unmatched by other similar programs.

jon, you should consider kickstarting stencyl. what the hell. so you can add staff and get this thing to the next level.

I think this is a good idea i know recently on kickstarter a project was funded for a game engine which was in far earlier stages than where Stencyl is at now and it got funded.
I feel like i'm stuck in groundhog day - same code, same pc, same shite... no retreat, no surrender yaa !!!

I gave you a dollar. I would have invested more but I'm strapped for cash. :)

Its awesome seeing something that started in stencyl move to 3DS! It would be interesting to have some insight on the process!

thanks guys. :) head's still spinning. before I started, I wasn't sure whether it'd be funded at all, and 20-something k was like -- the limits of my imagination.

we'll have what we need to make a really great game and my resolve is made greater by my determination to deliver something great to the backers who took a chance on it.

Hopefully you get to that 60k. I need to have something to play on my Wii U.

if any of you are curious, this is a gameplay walkthrough I made where I show some neat stuff that I hadn't shown before.

https://vimeo.com/72660711

the reason some of you might find it interesting/relevant is because this is still the stencyl version of the game, in this video. I kinda pushed it to the limit (at least as far as my own abilities go) so it stutters a bit sometimes but still runs okay overall.

I love your mechanics and it just looks amazing. I have a few questions if you dont mind.

How was the transition from stencyl to unity?

Also, what are some major benefits you saw by  moving your project to unity?

One more question, what made you choose the kickstarter goal for wiiU when 3ds seems to be a great fit and is selling great. My best guess is its going to be one of those games you just want to curl up on your couch and play on the big screen?

thanks. :)

re. the transition from stencyl to unity, it hasn't really begun yet. I won't be programming the unity version. I'll just be doing the design and artwork. key differences in the art side will be --- bigger, higher res images and the ability to do what I want without concern about file size. So probably more backgrounds too.

the benefit to moving to unity is everything. we'll be able to use any feature under the sun and make the game for big tvs and so on.  unity is also portable, it'll work on just about any hardware.

re. wii u -- this is an easy choice because unity works on it and nintendo is very friendly when it comes to getting a game on their store, waving the unity license fee entirely. 3DS may be possible one day but it's not an early goal because you can't run unity on it and would basically have to rebuild the thing specifically for 3DS.

awesome thanks for taking the time for questions. Also sorry, I forgot that unity is compatible with WiiU and not 3DS good luck with everything! Hope to play it on my WiiU one day, I'll guess we'll see!
