What to Make

- Make a game with any version of Stencyl.
- It may be a Flash game, a mobile (iOS / Android) game or a universal game (Flash + mobile).
- The game has to be new (not something you've already published), and it has to be complete.

No theme. No other restrictions. You may submit multiple entries or work with as many people as you'd like.

How to Submit

Post a topic inside this special contest forum.

Include the following...

- A link to the game, hosted on Stencyl.com, Newgrounds and/or Kongregate or for mobile games, on the App Store or Google Play.

- A brief description of the game.

- At least 1 screenshot or video of the game.

Private Submissions

If you e-mail us a private submission, always provide a link to your game's forum topic.

Mobile Games
Although we much prefer an App Store / Google Play entry, if you are unable to get a mobile game approved in time (it takes 1 week on average) or are intending to sell the game, you may e-mail an IPA / APK / project / promo-code to hello [at] stencyl.com.

Web Games
For a Web game, you may e-mail a link to hello [at] stencyl.com if you're seeking a sponsorship and have to keep the game private during bidding.

Prizes

1st Place
$250 + 1 year of Stencyl Studio

2nd Place
$100

3rd Place
$50

Best Mobile Game
$250 + 1 year of Stencyl Studio

(Mobile games qualify for all places. In the event that a mobile game places 1st, it would win both top prizes.)

Deadline

DEADLINE HAS PASSED

April 30th @ 11:59 PM (Pacific Time / -8 GMT)

Judging

Non-participating members of the Stencyl Team will collectively judge entries. Because of the volume of entries, we'll whittle it down from close to 90 entries to a shortlist and then debate from there.

We judge holistically.

Badges

Use these Badges in your game if you'd like. You're not required to use them.

Winners from the previous Game Jam

Here are the winning entries from the previous Game Jam to give you an idea of what a "winning" entry looks like.

oh, nice. I should definitely give this a shot.

Guess I know what i'm doing these two months.

I'm Gonna make a game about making bad games for the Stencyl Jam... Will that work?
AKA you'll hate the game so much that finishing it is a good thing...
yah, i have no idea. TIME TO TEST FATE!

Could the rules be changed so a Flash game doesn't have to be public if the author is either seeking sponsorship or waiting on a sponsor? iOS games in the competition don't have to be public, so it's only fair.

How new does it have to be? Could I use a game that's been in development for a while but isn't finished yet? Even if demos or such have already been published?

Yea, I should know what I am doing by april. I'll submit my game to this before the deadline. Should require the contest players have a stencyl preloader as well. The point is to get the name out right?
Check my profile to test my games in development.

I'm wondering too. For months I've been working on and off to overhaul "Demo- Upgradable Shooter" into a full game. It would likely be the only thing I will finish by April.
Don't look to me but rather to the One who is the reason for what I do. :)

If you need help, send me a PM. Even if I haven't been on in the forums in ages, I still receive those messages via email notifications. You can also reply to any of my forum posts, regardless of the age (especially if I created it), and I will likely reply.

If you want to see the programming behind certain types of games, feel free to check out my "Demo-" games on StencylForge (http://community.stencyl.com/index.php/topic,16160.0.html)

Yes, done. I don't want it to be a precedent for the whole contest, but we will accept games that must be kept private if seeking a sponsorship.
