Hello everyone, I am Kinnerdamon and i am beginning work on a Trading Card Game. I will be posting my progress in this thread when i have time or i need a break from development. I am open to all suggestions, tips, questions, and help. You can contact me through this thread or by sending me a PM.
Basic outline of what i will be doing so far.Notice! this section is mostly made up of ideas, some, most, or even all of them may not make it into the final game!- This will be a fantasy based game with a few steam-punk elements.
- There will be a resource system to play cards with. my current idea is a system of 4 elements Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. All of the cards will also have roots in these elements except a few that are neutral or are crosses between the other elements.
- I am currently looking at somewhere in the area of 300-1000 cards, it is more likely to be somewhere in the middle of those numbers, probably around 600-700 cards. (around 100 cards per element with the rest being scattered in between is what i am thinking, if anyone gets a better idea than what they see here let me know please)
- Decks will be made out of 40-60 cards (Minimum), your hand will have 6 cards at the start and you can have 7 at max.
- Different card types will be; Resource cards, Creatures, Spells, Equipment, and Enhancement.
- Creatures: this will be your troops, will have attack, toughness, resource costs, and some creatures will have special effects.
- Resource Cards: these will generate Resources for you in a number of different ways, some will generate one each of your turns and others will give you immediate resource boosts or even steal resources from the other player.
- Spells: Wreak havoc upon your enemies with destructive magics, heal your allies, or turn the tide in your favor by getting certain cards from your deck or graveyard back onto the field faster.
- Equipment: Boost your creatures attacks and toughness for as long as they are on the field by using equipment.
- Enhancement: Temporally boost your allies stats for one turn or the duration on the card.
- The field of battle will be limited to 7 creatures. Resources will be unlimited as will spells.
- Battle will start with both players having a health pool and who ever loses all of their health first loses the game. Computer opponents health will vary based on difficulty.
- Multi-player games will only be available on a local basis, this means that both players would have to be on the same computer, over the internet is not yet possible, if this changes i will put it in.
I'm going to say this one more time. This is just a starting outline, features and ideas you see here may be cut back to save space and time, others may be built up further to make a better game, and more may be added.
Help wanted listI am looking for help for parts of working on the game, not all of the spots listed here will be available to be worked on right away, most of them will require a lot of work on my end before you can start.
Graphics, my expertise here extends no further than stick figures and basic outlines.
The World so far.Ah what we have all be waiting for, i am making a fantasy style world for this game and it is coming along nicely, first release will likely only have humans and animals, but future releases will be sure to have other races like elves and such.
The Human RacesThere are four main races of humans each with each own history and is associated with a different element. All names are subject to change upon submission of a better name.
The ChashaelElement: Wind
The Chashael are a normally peaceful people but vengeful when attacked. Their recent war with the Yewtip Empire has left their armies broken but their spirit still lives on as they rebuild and train new warriors to retake their ancestral lands from the invading Yewtip Empire.
The Yewtip EmpireElement: Earth
The Yewtip Empire is the largest of the four human races, most of this is due to their extreme hatred of outsiders and absolute loathing of anyone associated with the wind element.
The AdakenElement: Fire
Little is known of the Adaken, they rose up in a mountain desert and are rarely seen outside of their mountain ranges. no one has seen any Adaken for almost twenty years. Rumors of Orcish hordes amassing just beyond the Northern Mountains has everyone on edge.
Scroll-GuardElement: Water
The Humans of Scroll-Guard are the most peaceful people, long ago trusted to protect an ancient scroll containing a powerful destructive spell. Most of their people are more focus on their own affairs.
Few humans ever leave and those that do never speak a word of the ancient scroll.
More elaborate descriptions are to come. Other races may make an appearance, but they will not be major players until the first expansion at least. (yes there will be expansion updates for the game)
