We are proud to present to you the Easy RPG Creator for Stencyl.

So, what exactly is the Easy RPG Creator?

The Easy RPG Creator is an extension for Stencyl that provides a powerful database tool which can be used as an aid in creating RPGs.  It allows you to easily and quickly create items, weapons, armors, equipment, and much more for your RPGs.

Although the database is cool and useful, it is nothing without the combined power of the Easy RPG Creator Kit that we have also designed to aid you in your RPG making.  What the kit provides is tons of useful code that allows you to have a running RPG in just minutes.  The kit comes with an inventory system and a menu system, allowing you to access and use your items, manage your party and their equipment, as well as other popular RPG menu options.  On top of that, we will also provide a dialog system for interacting with the characters within your world and a fully-functioning shop and battle system (not yet implemented in Alpha v0.1) Do you have to use the systems we provided?  No!  Our kit comes with these behaviors for those who have little to no experience with Stencyl.  If you want to design your own systems and behaviors using Stencyl’s versatile coding system, then you’re welcome to it!

As far as I know, you're only allowed to use Enterbrain's RPG Maker graphics in RPG Maker games. Distributing them in your pack would violate their EULA, so you might want to use some different graphics.

I highly doubt they are releasing this with RPG Maker graphics.  Like it says in their note, these are only placeholder graphics.  They probably just threw some graphics together so they could show something off.

I think this sounds like an excellent community contribution if they pull it off and make it easy enough to use that complete newbies can use it.  This looks like it offers a lot of possibilities for game making, even for more experienced Stencyl users such as myself.

The database alone looks as though it allows the creation of complex items in a relatively short timespan.

This looks like it could be interesting; can't wait.
PM me if you require help.  I'm always glad to help out!

Well if I had seen that note at the bottom I wouldn't have said anything.

Sounds interesting...

Keep in mind that the Easy RPG Creator will not be available for those of you with Stencyl 3.0.

And now my interest is gone.

Sorry for the confusion.  Yes, the graphics are just placeholders.  We're working on our own art right now to put in the kit.  The RPG Maker graphics just worked really well to throw something together.  To resolve in further issues we'll speed up development on the art assets.

Thanks for the input!

Also, I'm sorry we aren't currently working on a 3.0 version.  We would LOVE to, but we're poor game developers and can't afford the license currently.  We have to pay car payments, rent, food, etc.  Nothing left over currently for a Stencyl license.  However, we DO have a donation button on our website if you really would like to see this on 3.0.  We've spent hours and hours working on this already.  We would greatly appreciate any tips or donations to know that it's worth our while.

Thanks!  Updates coming soon.

Once 3.0 is out of closed beta (probably within a few months) it won't require a subscription to access.

Is this an extension in the sense that you wrote this using our extension framework in Java? That's pretty awesome and this is by far the biggest contribution I've seen to date.

I have no doubts, given your prior work on Shelter, that this is legit and will be as good as it looks to be.

If money for a subscription is the only thing barring you from bringing this to 3.0, that's easy to solve. I'll contact you privately.

Yes, this is an extension written using the Java extension framework provided by Stencyl.  We would be happy to bring this to 3.0 if we are able to.  We think that everyone should be able to make the games that they want to make and if we can make it even a fraction easier for everyone, we want to be able to help out.  We know how time consuming it is to create RPGs with Stencyl and we hope that our Extension and the provided kit will make it that much easier for everyone.  Stencyl is a great product and we believe that we can make it even greater with our extension.  We will do our best to provide a quality product for the good of the community.

One might say this is worthy of a sticky.

I didn't even know toolset extensions were being carried over to 3.0, since Jon hasn't talked about it and you're the first developer in a long time to make a toolset extension.

Thanks to a very appreciated and helpful gift we will now begin working on bringing the toolkit to Stencyl 3.0.  We'll keep everyone posted on the new version.  Also, art will start being replaced in the next few days.  We're beginning to look at a release date as well, so keep checking back if you're interested in using this awesome tool to bring your ideas to life.

This sounds absolutely fantastic. :) Hopefully it'll bring into the community more creative-types who just want to start making stuff who wouldn't want to be mucking around building their own systems for things. I think this sort of thing is exactly what stencyl needs to bring in fresh blood, I hope it gets a lot of recognition and use. Heck, stencyl should probably come with it attached (assuming it's not crappy or broken or something, I haven't actually tried it :p)
