Haha I remember being a n00b ;)

This was one of my earlier threads. Now I can implement this. http://community.stencyl.com/index.php/topic,9527.msg58549.html#msg58549

I agree I think it's hard for me and others to understand some of these topics but it's life. I don't believe there's any real age requirement or language requirement to stencyl so this is going to happen. I joined stencyl what seems like forever ago. (I think I was around 15) And now in 8 days as of this post I'm going to be 17. But as you can see from the earlier post that I made, I was pretty mature in my question. Although it's a noob question. So it's not just kids as so many others have stated.

For the beginner stencylers out there, here is what I recommend:

Turn off your internet when you use stencyl, seems stupid but that's how I learned it. And I learned it FAST!

Put thought into your posts. There are so many wonderful people here to help you out! But they can't if you make it hard to understand.

Check out the stencylforge and stencylpedia! It's SO helpful!

Anyways just thought I'd leave my footprint in this vast world we call the world wide web.

I Agree. Often times, and especially for simpler things, struggling through a problem and thinking it through will often lead you to your answer and even more valuable, knowledge.

I think the idea is that, rather than just searching for a solution on the Internet, you would try to solve the problem yourself without any assistance.

I can certainly see that method might be motivating for some. My preference is to have a go a myself and then to search for a solution if I am unsuccessful, or if I am not satisfied with the results of my efforts.

However, if I do use a solution provided by someone else, I will always try to understand how it works.

Exactly.

Have you tried communicating with the "noobs" about how to correctly ask for help or are you simply venting?

I've aged 2 years since I joined stencyl, and I have to say, 11 year old me was a lot less mature than 13 year old me.

Compare this to this.

I joined Stencyl when I was 10, and I'm still only 11 right now.
But I feel this thread is a bit discriminatory; you can't generalize a group based on some individuals.
I've learned that grammar is the key to getting help, regardless of your age.

A fair point, I think.

By the way, nice semi-colon!

Blimeo is absolutely correct about the importance of proper grammar. When your entire interaction with someone is based on what they've typed for you to read, the value of clear communication cannot be understated.
It's not about the actual age but the apparent maturity. Sadly, there are many people on the internet whose apparent level of maturity is extremely low regardless of their actual age.
