working demo, the idea is to build your colony, and its drone factories, fast enough to provide defenses.

The drones spawn every 10 seconds.
the enemies spawn every ten seconds and evolve/diverge (the number in the top left is the current number of different species)

Not finished bits
The idea is the game ends when an enemy reaches the middle.

Between retries the player can spend upgrade points to upgrade drone and building stats.

the ui draw order is borked. needs a total redo from start, as well as the map.
Can you do anything at this point? I couldn't seem to place anything though I seemed to have the necessary resources.

Anyway, here's part of what I got so far. It has something to do with solar-powered creatures versus mean polluting robots, and you're on the side of the former. No enemies for Stonehedge and Emerphant to fight as of yet, but hey.

It should be fully functional, you click a building in the panel on the right, then when the cursor is over the play area its red if you cannot build and a picture of the building if you can. When i redo the ui stuff I'll make the cost stay on screen to make this all easier to read etc. :)

I've managed to score about 8200 rp in a game with the build thats up now woot!

Guys, here is the game in its current state. It needs an art revamp, sfx some polish and more levels.. My brain is not cooperating any more, so i will go to sleep and continue tomorrow; meanwhile feedback will be VERY much appreciated! Good luck and have fun  :)

It should be fully functional, you click a building in the panel on the right, then when the cursor is over the play area its red if you cannot build and a picture of the building if you can. When i redo the ui stuff I'll make the cost stay on screen to make this all easier to read etc. :)

The square cursor always seemed to be red for me. :(

@mychairhasalooin, I got it to work a little bit, and it looks very fun.

@vikingpotato, I love the gameplay. So does my 8yo daughter, who saw me playing it and demanded a turn. "Dad, this game is awesome."

Awesome guys, i have to admit that i won't make it, no time for various reasons. But my idea was a Procedural Puzzle "Colorblind Bomb Disposal" - Cut the red wire in 10secs.

Still making a bit of progress. I'll probably have something rudimentary by the deadline.
- You have 10 seconds to prepare bodyguards before the VIP exits the vehicle.
- Press ENTER to start timer.
- Use arrows to control the bodyguard with the green marker.
- Drag and drop other bodyguards to strategic locations.
- Assassin will reveal himself after a certain time. Hopefully the bodyguards you placed can kill the assassin in time, and if not, maybe the bodyguard you control can take a bullet for the VIP.
- R to Refresh

It's not all working correctly yet, but getting there.

Graycog forces! We have a Ripjet (faster enemy type), Tank (basic enemy), and a Juggernaut (glass cannon... he's got low HP but he's stupid fast and strong).

Hopefully I'll have a demo/preview to show later today.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to do the jam now as time is running out, my other commitments ran over and really my game is screwed.

I also cannot make music quick at all. I also have less than an hour before I fall asleep in my chair and well, it was an experience that I would want to repeat whenever possible. :P

My game wasn't aiming to win a compo anyway, it was aiming to make me proud of myself.

I personally worked way harder than I could handle this time around. I could aim for the jam deadline, but I think it's best for me to slow down and not drive myself to insanity. I'm almost completely mentally and physically spent. I always work hard as fuck in these competitions, but this is the first time I think I've felt so crappy before the deadline. Perhaps the obligation to stream I created for myself added a lot of mental pressure, or maybe it's being tethered to my computer with earbuds for streaming and Skyping, or maybe it's because I've been waking up feeling more tired than I was when I went to bed, or maybe it's because this game isn't as straightforward as the others I've done for short competitions, or maybe it's all of those. Whatever it is, I should probably plan less demanding games.
