Ludum Dare 27

Being my the first official LD where I've actually managed to get my ideas past really basic stages, the goal at this point is to just have fun and get the game submitted. I haven't treated this uber gung-ho by any stretch, which is why I'm aiming for the jam, but I've definitely been able to make some strong progress and the skeleton of my game is really starting to take on more meat. I've had to cut out some ideas, but I still have the conceptual base I was aiming for theme-wise, so I think I'm in good shape. Just gotta keep working.

I made this. It is called The Floor is Lava.

You can play it here: http://www.stencyl.com/game/play/21017

competition page: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-27/?action=preview&uid=25645

I entered this game into the jam portion since I didn't create the music and used some of the stencyl behaviors...Anyway I am tired and want to take a nap. I'll write more of what I think of Ludum Dare later.

I would love feedback since I plan on working on this game more.

Gameplay is finally finished, as in, will be worked on no more. Which is nice, because I have 4 hours left for the entirety of sound design, a splash screen, and maybe a damned achievement system. (i have cool theme inspired achievements). 4 hours. GET OFF THE FORUMS ME AND GET TO WORK.

Also it's my birthday.

Simple and solid. That's obviously a plus. I think it might need a few more gameplay mechanics to help the action from getting too stale, but otherwise its a very good start in my opinion to the game (as you said you planned on working on it farther).

I would like to say that wall-sliding feels somewhat counterproductive though. Manuevering precisely around ceiling corners can be a pain, particularly since fractions of seconds can mean the difference. Maybe your character could be a block of ice who just slides on walls without slowdown... still wall jumps, just no slowdown. Otherwise, I feel that slowdown effect hurts that frantic, split-second momentum this game is supposed to have. An idea, anyway.

Finished my entry, wish I had time to make more levels, but I spend way too much time fighting with annoying bug in the controls

Not going to finish in time for the competition, MAYBE I'll finish it before the jam ends.

I finished my first entry in Ludum Dare. I am happy with what I ended up with. However I did not have enough time to make music.

Besides the controls being kind of weird, I really enjoyed it despite it being so short. I think you did well for the time frame.

This is my first time to join Ludum dare and so far so good.  :D
I planned to do a 2 player game this time with a bird's eye view, it is now 75% complete.
Just need to finish the Main Menu and character graphics before launching it.
