Is Cydia store support planned? That's will decrease amount of money devs will have to pay (only Stencyl license) and may be used as failsafe if apple won't give permission to publish in App Store.

There are no impossible things. There is only lack of skills.

You can publish any compile-able app to cydia. Whether that is the right choice to make is up to how big you want your audience to be. (nobody buys apps on cydia)

Yeah, what I meant is that I am unsure if Stencyl online iOS build (that one which would work for non-Mac systems) will be possible even w/out Apple's dev license.

And also you're wrong about no one buy apps on Cydia. All people I know who has rooted iOS device (iPhone.iPad, any version) and use Cydia are buying soft on it. Also there are some programmers which were refused by Apple to put their apps/games on AppStore and after putting them on Cydia, they've got fortunes.

No, the Windows/Linux build service requires a Dev Certificate to build.

As for cydia, you will still make more money on the app store, and if your game is any good you will earn back the $99 you spent for that year easily and break even.

Yeah, but first you have to have those $99. Couldn't it be arranged in other way (for win/lin build) so we don't need dev certificate?

//edit: $99 is 278 PLN, according to Google, which is half of my rent. While maybe I'd be able to save this money for Stencyl license by being almost hungry for 3-4 months, I can't imagine I'd be able to pay this also for Apple subscription. After I'll earn first money, it'll be easier for me, but starting this little domino effect is hardest part.

What do you mean it wont' be royalty free? Will Appple not take any of our hard earned money for their greedy pursuits, or will the Stencyl team not take any of our money so that they can live and be rewarded for the hard work they've put into this project?

Also, does this mean that it will be easier to use istencyl on a mac?

Ninety nine dollars for a year seems a lot for just the indie license. As Darkhog said, he wouldn't be able to afford that and the apple developer subscription, and many Stencyl users are young children who have parents that wouldn't want to spend almost $200.

Jon, you said that if we have a good app, we should break even and make a profit, but you were just saying that about one of the two $99 fees. Would it be likely for us to break even with the Apple developer fee as well, and still make some money?

$99 is nothing compared to what you can earn if you get a succesful game in the app store. At least that's what I was told.
My Stencyl resources are available here: https://luyren.itch.io/

By saying that iStencyl is "Royalty Free" he means that no money will go to Stencyl from sales of games made by StencylWorks. Apple will still get 33% because they own the App Store.

It will be easier to use iStencyl on a mac because you can test in the iOS simulator, but it is not required to have a mac as you can test your game in flash and see pretty much the same behaviour from your game as you would if it were on iOS. We do recommend testing the game on a device first before sending to the app store to ensure that it performs well and that there are no iStencyl specific bugs. (still in beta)

I can't talk about the $99 price tag because I'm not very good at economics ( :'C ) but I know it's cheaper than many other packages.

If you google "app store sales statistics" you can get the average revenue for an App Store app and it is much higher than $198, so your game can be below average quality and still break even.

Okay.

But stencyl should get like 5% at the very least, since they worked so hard. Otherwise, all their income would just be from the license sales, which may not be very high.

If something gets very big, Stencyl should get some money since they ported it. Or something.

Darkhog, I'm sorry if you really can't afford iStencyl and the Apple Developer Program, but the average person in the US makes more than $99 a day from their job. $200 every year seriously not a lot of money, especially when you consider how much money you can make in the iOS App Store.

Anyway - you need to understand that world's doesn't end on U.S. and in other countries jobs are... less paid.

//edit: And in other countries, even if you have KNOWLEDGE and don't have UNIVERSITY DIPLOMA and/or (rather "and") job experience, you won't find job. But maybe this part of post should go to vent emotions thread...

I said "in the United States" because I based my claim on the average US income divided by the number of days in the year. $200 every year is not that much money for most people who live in developed nations. You can't base your prices on how much really poor people make. Your business wouldn't make enough money to stay afloat.

$99 annually is more than acceptable in the market.

You need to understand that a start-up U.S. company isn't going to set their price points to ones better fit for certain foreign countries because they aren't going to make the same U.S. standard of profit, especially since most of Stencyl's userbase is from the U.S.

If sales decrement enough from iStencyl, it's typical the price will go down, but prices don't drop for the minority.

I am not joking, Irock. You got the prettiest avatar I've seen my whole life. I wish you can make an ios game with that character. It will sell a ton. Just like my avatar did.
Wind Waker came out 8 years ago.
I doubt a game would sell a ton based solely on having a pretty character.
