I've that nauseating feeling of post holiday rush to the store again come this thursday:)

Seriously anyone here has any prior knowledge how to publish your game to appstore. You see we have the game-making side of things. However, there is the other side of setting the whole process up that lead to final publishing. It's definitely not trivial as I understand. If you know how to, you definitely have a leg up on rest of us.

I've long awaited iStencyl  :-X and I can't wait to try it out. It's even better you have a lite version for testing.

Hiyo all, just so I understand, for those without a Mac atm;

I would have to send my app to the stencylworks server, then upload it to my apple device?

Would that be done within the program?

I would like to know this as well. The only thing holding me back is the Mac which I plan on getting, but not anytime soon.

149 USD = 491 PLN (according to google)= 95% of my monthly payment (540 PLN)... Not interested, sorry.

Darkhog, I'm sure you'll find that it is the equivalent of $12.42 per month. Or for me, £7.94 per month. Assuming a minimum wage of about £5, that's less than 2 hours work every month to pay for your iStencyl alone. Maybe 4 hours if you want to factor in Apple Dev costs as well? :)

True, but it'd be great if we wouldn't have to pay per whole year, but per month (of course as option). For instance, those 12.42 USD (which is around 42 PLN) is more bearable for me, even if I would have to pay this amount every month.

There are no impossible things. There is only lack of skills.

@Darkhog, I am not sure you have an idevice to test your game. You can always use the lite version to play/test your own game.

If your game is good enough, I am sure there will be people on the forum willing to sponsor your game and split some of the cost with you. Much like a VC for your game.

Personally, seeing my own game on iphone and showing it to my friends already give me some incentives to try it out.

I'm with you Rob. I've been contemplating the choice of partnering with someone with the necessary hardware to do iStencyl games with since I have no interest in iPhones/etc but the market for it is good.

I'm looking forward to Android mostly though.

$149 a year? A pretty good price I guess, but I'm not sure that I want to pay that much. Though if we get a badge with a santa hat, maybe.

But it's great news that it's out! I hope the Android will be out soon - that's something I'd like to see.

Wonderful News! I've been waiting for this day.

The price is reasonable compared to the market standard; more importantly accessible and attainable. Of course, I need to play with iStencyl first, but if it's as good for iOS as Stencyl is for Flash...I'm buying in as soon as I know for sure! :)

Big Thanks to everyone that made this come together; just what I've been looking for for years!

If you create a game normally with iStencyl Free, can I still test it out on my iDevice? (Since you can't test the accellerometer on the PC) And will the code still work just as fine when I purchase the pro version so I can publish without the watermark?

I've read someone also that you can export the code into an xCode friendly format since iStencyl uses C++, is that true?

Yes, you can test on the device without a license.

To answer the second, you can edit the xcode generated project and submit that to our server. One user actually did this to add in support for something in iOS 5 that we don't yet support.

Without a Mac, and assuming you have a license (this isn't available in lite), you can submit to the server and read the e-mail you get back on your device to install. It literally is as easy as following a link (no nasty iTunes syncing).

Hmm sry, I think you've been asked this already a billion ways
Ok,  just so I understand clearly, exactly how will I test my game (that I make in Stencylworks) on my itouch (example) if I don't have my Mac?

I've read i can just use Stencyl itself but as Mutank pointed out, we can't test certain things on PC.
it would be better to test it on my device.

You send the game to the Stencyl Servers and they will build you game and send it to you through email. You can then install the app right from the email.

I believe you need the apple license (99/year), because you need the keys/certificates/register devices/appID/Provisioning stuff so you can run a "strange" application on your device;

by the way; Stencyl's price is good and there is the andoid/html5 plans on the horizon with good descounts! My plan is to buy a license day one!
december 8, in that case :)

(as usual, sorry my english)

Okay thanks. Yeah I haven't got a problem with the price, it's just I'm completely new to developing, no background at all and I just wanted to make sure I'm going to be able to do this before paying. My game concept is touch screen based. So I can't test it in flash efficiently.

Hi Guys,

I don't think theres a need to open a new thread to my question(s), but if so, just let me know and I will.

-  Apart from the price,  what are the benefits of iStencyl comparted to GameSalad

-  I for one look forward to use iStencyl as I hope it is a lot better and less buggy than GameSalad, can anyone confirm if iStencyl will run smoother than GS, and if the spinning loading circle problem on GS exists in iStencyl?

Cheers
Mike
