So here it is. My review of "Learning Stencyl 3.x Game Development- Beginner's Guide". Now, just for the record, I have only been working with Stencyl for about a month at the time of this writing so when I discovered this book, I was instantly curious and excited to find out what it was all about. So let's check it out shall we.

I got my hands on the ebook version and immediately started reading through it and I was blown away with how clearly written and how well detailed this book is. Learning Stencyl 3.x Game Development- Beginner's Guide takes you through every step (and I do mean every step) as you build your first game in Stencyl. It starts you out by taking you to the Stencyl site and explaining how to download and install Stencyl. It literally starts you from the very first steps that you need to take!

Learning Stencyl 3.x Game Development- Beginner's Guide takes you through the creation of a jungle game that is provided with the book through downloaded files which the book links to at the appropriate times. At times the book even has you making mistakes on purpose so you can see what happens within the program and how you would fix it. By the time you are finished reading through the book, you will have completed the creation of a game and will have a great understanding of Stencyl and what it can do. This is the perfect book for anyone interested in learning Stencyl and making their own games.

Somehow, I missed this review when first posted!

Thanks for buying the book and taking the time write to the review; I appreciate it.

It always drives me crazy when a tutorial makes deliberate mistakes without warning you in advance. There's nothing worse than trying something out, becoming frustrated that it doesn't work, then discovering a few paragraphs later that there was a deliberate mistake!

For this reason, on the few occasions that I have introduced deliberate mistakes into the practical exercises, I have clearly stated that things won't work as expected before the exercise begins! We then learn what the problem is, and how to put it right.

Thanks again,
Innes
